I will say that this movie was very good while not sticking closely to Homer's Iliad

one of the best movies I have ever seen and the pure emotion of the struggle withing the characters is incredible as is, IMO, the acting done by all the principle actors

brad Pitt was Achillies, plain and simple

His body was not able to be pierced other than his heel thats why in the end the only thing that hurt him was d arow to his heel and das why he realise hector was d 1st man to touch him ever das why he look so surprised and look at his stomach hector slash him but didnt pierce him

This movie didn't take the mythology very seriously.

Achilles was a normal human being...just an incredible fighter.

Remember in the beginning when the little boy asked him if he was immortal and he said that if he was, he wouldn't need armor and a shield.

the shot to the heel was just a tie in to the myth of "achillies' heel"

all that shot did was slow him down, subsequently he missed when trying to deflect the second arrow shot by legolas

but Shin is right , Hector was (as far as we know, in the movie at least) the first man to touch him and that was the only time we ever see achillies suprised or less than totally confident in his abilities. even thenfor the rest of the battle his body language as that of a man of total control and confidence, while hector knew he would die


but I think that it was a good thing that parts of the original story by homer wasn't included or left as it was, since the characters are in some ways better in this version

this character of Hector is one of my favorite fictional characters ever

my only problem with the movie is that achillies wasn't too strong, but the other heros were too weak, and some were left out (esp trojan heros), and odysseus was downplayed a bit

Dread I doh know if all the ppl in this thread is females or what but that movie was AT BEST HALF BAKED... for anyone that knows a lil of the history the battle lasted 10 YEARS NOT two weeks, while I emphatize with the movie makers that ten years would have been a stretch, and what was up with seeing so much of 0rlando Bl0om, dread I almost walked out the cinema... if that camera went ANY LOWER it would have been a puke fest... Also talk about over-dramatized voice acting... it was like everyone was constipated or just trying WAY to hard, the only good thing about that movie was the fight between Achilles and Hector... other than that it was an overated, big budget flop... and for the record 0rlando Bl0om is a PU$$Y dread when yuh FATHER tells u to get up and DIE and u crawl back to yuh brother dread hector shoulda kill him cause in the end it caused his death, so in retrospect IF they had (GOD forbid) shown more of 0rlando Bl0om yuh woulda see he has NO TESTICLES cause dread how do u go from being a badass elf and a cool pirate to a quivering, pathetic, good for nothing cept getting yuh own city destroyed over ONE flecking (NOT SO HOT) piece of @$$,  PU$$Y!!!

Aenas being one of the ancestors of the romans is as far as I know still mythology and not historical fact, (can't really be proven)

W1ntry, boy I can see that you are talking about what you don't understand, there is more to the story and to acting than what you make it out to be and if it was your people and your family on the line and your (beloved) cousin who died, I hope you don't be as constipated as they were and be a more mellow fellow, after all, bnothing important was going on


and PARIS was SUPPOSED to be a pussy so the fact that you are calling Bloom that, is a testement that the acting in the movie was better than you give it credit

if they re-wrote the character the whole story would change

LOL I was waiting to see who'd reply to that post I was honestly expecting a more tempered response, good to see ppl aren't that testy as you can hear when you listen to 95.5FM lol... anyways I know Paris is a wuss but still I didn't think the acting was that great to be honest, you want good acting go see Arlington Road, Fight club, heck go see Shrek 2 (voice acting), you want to see skin, go see Troy.

As for the constipated part of things as far as family goes I agree letting him die would have been harsh but dread if u steal a man wife, make me fight ur war, and end up with the entire city being sacked and me being DEAD... dred u are no brother of mine...

Umm dread the whole story was an action ridded excuse for a fight, we all know that hellen was an excuse to fight, he bloody (literally too) well spelt that out in the movie, dread I have to back up Strongton here dread (rare of late it seems) if yuh want to see Br@d Pitt @$$ go see it, otherwise if you have been warned as I have all the ppl I know who've NOT seen it, if ur female big up, if not RUN, RUN FAR AWAY cause that movie was UNCALLED for...
