Yeah Brock doesn't like getting hit, and Mir was beating him in the stand up, but he was nowhere close to finishing him. Brock took a solid knee from Mir and didn't flinch, he took those hammering hands of Carwin and it didn't faze him. Sure he's getting outpointed on the feet, but who's going to last to a decision with him?

As for subs, idk who can sub him. His wrestling pedigree is first rate and I don't think any bjj player can best his brute force at wrestling. A talented wrestler might be able to deal with him on the ground but a pure jitz guy will get manhandled.
Cain is again likely going to light him up on the feet, but then he blitzed on the ground. Couture showed that a top flight wrestler can deal with him on the ground but I don't think Cain is on that level. Barnett maybe.

Well , we just need another Mir who can handle a snorlax attack on top of him.
Cause as much as it pains Brock to admit it, that foothold knee bar did him in nicely.
Mr F_ _ _ _ E _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ would be a nice match :)

As much as it may pain Frank to admit it, that was a rookie mistake Brock is unlikely to repeat.

As for Fedor, blasphemy it may be, but I have no idea which way that could go. It seems to me the strategy he used against Mir in the second fight would work on Fedor. I've always assumed Fedor would simply light him up on the feet before that but nothing seems to put Brock down properly. I dunno if even Fedor's overhand right can do it, there's no way Fedor matches Carwin for power.

AHahahahahahahaahahahahahahah
Lesnar down
Lesnar down to Valesquez
Heres the vid
Was there actually anything for Fedor to worry about from him?
Steups, what a waste, i was hoping Mir would have been given the chance to make him cry like a bitch again, but instead, Lesnar messed with the wrong Mexican.

good fight.

Some refs would have stopped that a long time ago but I guess they knew Lesnar could take a lot of punishment.

No, Brock was intelligently defending himself against Carwin. Cain on the other hand was carefully picking his shots whereas Carwin was just teeing off like an idiot, not landing many of his shots properly and just tiring himself out.
Brock's issue is that he can't take a hit without panicking. The man has a chin made of iron but he goes into panic mode when someone tags him. Anyone Brock can take down and keep down is in serious trouble. But if he can't take them down he wilts under the pressure of a good stand up fighter.

Dos Santos gets the next shot. I'm not too interested in him or Cain tbh. I want Alistair to get back in there. He's the man that should truly take Fedor's crown and then rampage the UFC HW division.
http://www.thereem.com/

If you've never seen the online documentaries on Alistair they're an excellent watch. Man is beast, best striker at HW bar none.

On another note, Fedor seeing some hard times.

Hopefully we will see the Last Emperor show his colors against Dan Henderson later this month.

If not, many say it would mean retirement.

Fedor does not need to prove anything.....doesn't need hype....he just loves to fight.

Real Humble......in a world filled with over the top promotions and Bling....

He doesn't even look like a fighter....I will really miss him when he's done....

I agree, Fedor is a phenom.

A pity we didn't get to see the Brock vs Fedor fight before they both took a back seat to younger fighters. That would have been the MMA event of the year.

Here is a little promo vid from the "Local UFC" as I like to call 'em.

CUFF

Can't wait for CUFF 04 coming up on August 20th

Well unfortunately, controversy came at Fedor's next fight rather than victory.

Losing to a stoppage and supposed "knock out" after a brilliant reversal by Dan Henderson from a ground & pound.

Judge for yourself.

In my opinion, the hits to the back of the head showed poor form on Dan's part.

I'd have issued a warning rather than stop the fight and give Fedor a chance to get back to his feet.

Exactly, Herb Dean showed no respect for Fedor's resiliance, the fact that he immediately rolled to not give his back up AND the shots to the back of the head by Hendo.

Very very very bad call on herb deans part.

Absolutely not. Fedor was OUT after that uppercut. Definitely Dan hit him in the back of the head when he swarmed him, but that happens all the time in those situations.
Fedor did recover at the end, very commendable, but as far as I'm concerned Herb had every right to move to stop the fight after he went limp from the uppercut.

I'm glad Fedor got cut as well, it's time for him to retire. I really don't see any fights for him anymore, not unless he reinvents himself. Which would entail actually cutting to 205 permanently and finding a proper training camp (not this Russian crap he does right now). Fedor will never do either, so I'd rather see him bow out now before he turns into what Cro Cop and Wanderlei are now.

The real tragedy out of SF this week was The Reem being released imo.

Yes he was out very momentarily, but the man recovered so fast that the only place hendo had to hit him was on the back of the head.

Seriously, it would not be the first time someone got dazed like that and continued fighting very well. People get dazed like that on their feet and recover.

That was far far far too quick a call and him getting cut is nothing new.
The thing that is important here is how fast he recovered and had the wherewithal to roll to protect his back.

We have seen calls that are too fast, like this, and calls that should have come and never came, like brock getting pulvarized against the cage with barely any response, big shots to his face for almost a whole round, by Shane Carwin, and people were wondering why the call never came. Brock then won that fight.

So , bad calls by refs aint nothing new, Italy knows that pain very well in world cup.

You're missing the point, Fedor was out. Unconscious. When that happens the ref is supposed to stop the fight.

Making comparisons to Brock or Nick Diaz even doesn't apply, as both were intelligently defending themselves from the attacks and most importantly when compared to this situation, they never lost consciousness.
The loss of consciousness is the key. Look at last night when Ebersole was GnPing Hallman. As soon as Hallman went limp the ref jumped in. It's good practice. You can't just hope a guy recovers fast, if he doesn't he'll eat a lot of shots while unconscious.

Had Herb known Fedor would recover like that beforehand I agree he could have let the fight go on and never jumped in. But best practice says you jump in when a fighter is knocked unconscious, Herb did that and he shouldn't be criticized for it. Once he made the move to stop the fight he couldn't take it back.

OK, I looked at it again very carefully based on your position Exar and I have to agree.

He was out with that uppercut. It was difficult to see from the angle.

Amazing work for Dan to escape and connect that blow in one fell swoop.

That could have ended very very differently but fair enough. I recant my earlier view.

Really unfortunate for the emperor yes.

To cheer me up, posting a tribute video of the man who is my inspiration in the MMA world from since the Matt Hughes era, when he was just a contender.
