CALL OF JUAREZ BOUND IN BLOOD
« on: July 06, 2009, 09:36:40 AM »
dont know if anyone here played the first game. Although it was amibtious, it wa buggy and broken, so i really wasnt looking foward to this game much...

but then i tried it...and oui sah it fixed EVERYTHING that was wrong with the first one...outstanding visuals, unique gameplay, this is a western themed game that works very very well...

even the multiplayer looking boss....Berzerk highly recommends.... :happy0203:

Hmm after Chinarakinda introduced me to GUN, a western game that I ended up playing through to the end, I'll give this a shot. Looks sweet!

Game is nice.  I actually had to tone down my GPU's overclocks, as this game had it begging
for mercy.  I actually saw artifacts at one poin...and this is with the fan at max rpm.

Tested the MP as well.  A very nice assortment of modes, and character classes.
Me and my crew will have a LOT of fun with this one.

With a mild overclock, 1920x1200 res and max settings im getting 60+ fps with not great but OUTSTANDING iq. Gaddamn. I'd go so far as to say that the game is more visually impressive than Crysis.

Playing through the first act I reached upon a visual that just made me stop and stare. I was getting shot at but I didnt care. Getting a serious COD vibe too but maybe that's just in the beginning.

...and thats just the 1st chapter.  The visuals improve substantially when the main story gets going.
Especially when you reach Juarez.  The backdrops are especially stunning.  There's a TON of postprocessing
goin on under the hood of this game.  Using Everest's Logitech G-15 LCD output function to monitor GPU
utilisation, I noticed that this game routinely pegged 95-100% GPU utilisation.

Don't be surprised if you see this game being used as a benchmarking tool in the near future.  If there was ever a poster-child for DX10, this is it.

As for the assertion that it looks better than Crysis...I'm inclined to agree.  Crysis Warhead though,
is a different story.  CW's visuals are a little bit more lush, and varied.

Once hamachi behaving properly, we could make a go at the MP.  The level designs could make for some
great shootouts.  There's even a 'Legendary' mode, where you can re-enact famous historical Old West
shootouts, like The Gunfight at the OK Corral.  :)  Great stuff.

well i'm gettin some strange slowdown when playing the game. it doesn't seem to be that my system can't handle it. more like a drivers or vista issue. it played perfectly once, but then i had one of those annoying driver crashes and it never played well after that. i tried using old and never drivers, but they suck alike. anyone with an nvidia gpu experiencing the same problem?

This particular game murders GPUs.  You might want to check your GPU temps if you're playing it
with everything maxed out.

well, after a bit of tinkering in the nvidia control panel, i've realized that having sli enabled for the game was the problem. switching the game to use a single gpu fixed the problem. framerate still rocksteady at 60. the game sexy too bad......when in runs smoothly that is

Ah berzerker...that wasn't very civil. :)

Its funny Rage, that you should have to 'turn off' one GPU to play it.  Definitely sounds like a driver thing.
When was the last driver revision?

the 18th of last month. the last stable driver i've installed was V182.50 released back in April 2nd. all versions since then gives me driver crashes in certain games and when the screensaver's on. weird huh.

My oh my this game looks good. It causes a just a hint of stuttering now and again but I guess that is cause I have everything on high. I will do a overclock on the card to have everything juicy and smooth.

But man this this looks look Beautiful!!! Nice shoot em up :P
