Robbery on De Verteuil Street‏
« on: June 03, 2009, 11:17:46 AM »
I got this in an email recently, does anyone know if it is true? I work around there :s

---------------------------

I know that I will be relating this story for years to come so I thought let me put it out there while the details are still fresh and maybe warn u guys further how unsafe this country has become.

Today while most of you were probably at work or making moves to watch the big game. My family and I were held up at gunpoint by two unmasked men and a woman in Woodbrook.

Around 12.35pm I came home to find our front gate at home open. Noticing that this was strange pulled in the driveway cell in hand and called out to my grandmother. In hindsight I should not have pulled into the driveway especially because a strange car was parked across the road and the driver was staring at me intently.

My aunt has a small hairdressing salon behind our home and i thought that maybe one of her clients had left the gate open. I had gone to the grocery and was offloading the car and my grandmother went down to the salon to check on my aunt who had just called her.

After a minute or so, my aunt calls me on my cell asking me to come to the salon to help her with something. At this point I start to feel uneasy because my grandmother had not returned. I call back my aunt to ask her if everything was okay to which she responded yes and that i should come now, I asked her where granny was and she said in the shower. At this point sensing that some thing was wrong but unwilling to raise an alarm for what could have been nothing I called my mother and told her to call me back on my cell in 2 minutes and if I did not answer to call the police immediately.

I locked the door and proceeded to the annex/salon at this point a young dougla guy in his late 20's or early 30's meets me in the driveway stating that my aunt was waiting on me in the salon to help him move something. As i followed him into the salon, there was my aunt and my grandmother cowering in a corner, a 6ft tall brown skinned young lady in a fluorescent yellow patterned miniskirt outfit and a 9mm pistol in my face. It was a hold up.

The guy much shorter and obviously intimidated by me went to great lengths to ensure that I did not 'try' anything. I will never forget his face or that of the girl.

After assuring my aunt and grandmother that he will not hesitate to kill me, asked me to lie face down on the ground and proceeded to tie me up.

He was having difficulty and roughed me up a bit in an effort to get me to co-operate. I had placed my blackberry in my pants pocket but left the holster on my hip...he frisked me asking for my phone and i told him that i had forgot where i put it then my phone rang. Seeing that i was not being honest or co-operative i was struck again and the gun jammed into my head and temple and the bastard reiterating how easy it is to kill me and that police will NEVER catch him.

At this point, i was praying that my mother was able to contact the police and that it was just a matter of time before they arrived on the scene and caught these criminals in the act.

My aunt and I were then thrown into a storage cabinet and the guy left the salon and the girl was our guard while these men ransacked our home

While in the closet, I heard my grandmother conversing with the young lady as she proceeded to pack her bag with all of my aunt's hair products and hairdressing implements. Then, in the distance I heard sirens and I thought that help was seconds away. The sirens apparently scared them and I heard the guy calling the girl to come immediately as they were leaving. When she left the salon I freed myself and then locked and barricaded the door to the salon..no telling what was going on outside.

At this point my father, mother and brother arrive and confront the crooks as they were closing up their car and beginning to leave our home

My Mother accosts one of them after he strikes my father in the face..the other assailant pulls his gun on my mother and threatens to fire. My brother proceeds to restrain my mother as these guys coolly drive their getaway vehicle out my yard and onto Deverteuil Street. They drive off not speed off...an example of the kind of arrogance that criminals seem to have these days as they are comforted by the incompetence of our police service. While my mother rushes to the salon fearing the worst,my brother gives chase on foot flags down a police vehicle and quickly points out the silver B15 Sentra PBX9837/7837 weaving in and out of midday traffic on Ariapita Ave...they never give chase or if they did we will never know.

At 1.55pm, my family is frantically on the phone trying to make contact with the police who give us a run around, 999 was eternally busy and calls to Woodbrook and St James Police Station were met with a level of apathy beyond belief. Their excuses were pathetic and so indicative of the inept police force that we have serving our country.

By the time the police arrived at 2.30pm it was clear that our local constabulary is a bunch of limers and were obviously caught up in the Man U vs Barca Football Match.

At this point it was clear that the crooks made off with a sizeable haul ALL my electronics except my Computer tower(which is how i am able to type this and with the aid of an old monitor.

I had by my parents). ALL my grandmothers jewelery and some cash she had set aside to pay some bills and most of my aunts equipment and products from her salon.

I called everyone I knew who I thought would have been able to help and thank God I was able to reach an old friend-a constable who gave me the names and numbers of the people I should call. I spoke to an Inspector Dan at St. James who explained how swamped THREE police stations were and that the detectives were enroute to dust for finger prints. Sure enough after the final whistle had blown in the Man U/Barca Match at 5.30pm. two detectives arrive to dust for finger prints.

Words cannot describe how I feel right now and how easily they got away. My grandmother will need to be sedated in order to sleep and even though we were able to change most of the locks around the house, that sense of security is forever destroyed by the chosen few who take joy at depriving people of their valuables for the sake of getting cash and gear for a concert!

Its so ironic that Claudia Pegus mere blocks away was held up on Friday night possibly by the same characters and another hairdresser was held earlier this week! Its quite clear that bandits have taken over Woodbrook and they are definitely confident and boastful about being able to get away with it while our police continue to show us how incompetent they are.

Its frightening to think that my life could have been snuffed out by an ass who preferred to beat and rob, defenseless, hardworking people rather than work, in order to bling-out at Shabba and Buju or John.
My grandmother will be fleeing this country for good and I am contemplating my options as its evident that you are no longer safe in your own homes.

The point of this long email is to warn you all not to take ANYTHING for granted. Be forever vigilant you never know who is watching you

Praise you Jesus for letting us walk away with our lives

Bless

G

In this country the only way to get them to come is to tell them someone dead... as bad as this sounds too bad the individual didn't have family of that persuasion that would have 'stopped' the assailants in their track, on the ground lying in their own bodily fluids... that aside, the next thing? do you know how hard it is to get a LICENSED FIRE ARM? but how EASY it is to get an illegal one? geez.... anyways long story short  good ole T&T right...MC

Yeah I always wondered what this country would look like if they made it easier to get a firearm.
