i just got doom 3 from a fileshare program, even thougth 1 file is corrupt the game runs.......... specs : P III 850 mhz [ not enough ] 256 mb PC133 [ keeps running out of VIRTUAL memory @500 mb ] Radeon 8500 128mb [ the ONLY thing in the box that runs it good ] average FPS , 640x480 , 16 bit colour, 8 bit stencil, 16 bit Z buffer , anisotropic off . : 50-60 fps when away from monsters average FPS with monsters : 5 for an alpha the game is pretty well coded, very few bugs and crashes.. except.. for.... THE LAG! the is some kinda bug that reduces the FPS to 5 when your near a monster , you don't have to look at it, being 2 rooms away is enough . Graphics : the textures make halo look bad.. REALLY . , the textures are obviouly open GL[ 2.0] cause they are sooth, but at close range the textures become BUMP MAPPED, you can see WRINKLES on the dead zombies, in 3rd person view your character has HAIR on his skin. The shadows are VERY realistic, one light in the middle of a room can cast shadows across everything, metal and glass reflect light realistically making even more shadows. The guns leave trails of flame which cast even MORE shadows. the models cast shadows on themselves, lips cast a shadow on the chin, noses etc. Physics : DEAD bodies have realistic physics, if you shoot a zombie resting on a wall he slides down a bit lower . Barrels slide when you step NEAR them . sound : NEXT GEN!! better than ANY game i ever played you gotta hear it for your self gameplay.: dead zombies GET BACK UP!, demonic bulls burst out of the walls! YOU ARE GUARENTEED TO GET A HEART ATTACK IF YOU ARE OVER 30!
