OK, so Steam did a major update to the UI...

The games list has been totally redesigned...

Critics say...'it badd'.

The disappearing friends list issue should have been fixed also. To install this update, go into the settings, and access the 'Account' tab,
and change the Beta participation section to 'UI update'. Steam will restart, and voila. New ting.

ok ppl, need some info here. basically i had bad company 2 before (didn't buy from steam), reformatted my pc and when i tried to use the ea manager to download the game again using the key i bought they said it was disabled.

After speaking to numerous ea reps on ea chat they said the only thing i could do is ask for a refund becuase i didn't buy from a legit source.

Anyways, i then bought the game from steam and downloaded. when i ran bad company a msg popped up with the cd key and told me to enter when prompted. when i went into bad company, i entered my previous login details and it worked, got my soldier back etc and i played a multiplayer game.

Question : is the steam key still available to use by someone else or is it only linked to my account? btw this is the first game i bought off steam

A little advice, don't add everyone who sends you an invite unless you are DAMN WELL sure it's someone you interacted with before at least via gaming etc.

Oh and for the record make a backup of your steamapps folder that you find in here C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam

prevents you from having to download over the whole damn game/games if your pc manages to go apeshit....after re-installing steam on fresh install you just have to copy & replace with your backup and all your games are there....

How do I know if this will work?? I did it myself when I wiped vista and put on win7...

ea reps said that when u buy the key from sites other than official sites that they don't consider legit and so they disable them
makes no sense because it worked since march 11th up to yesterday when i reformatted. plenty of those cdkey sites are considered illegal by ea. i bought from cdkeyhouse.com. when i contacted them they said it was 100% legit blah blah. i jus happy i get back my soldier.

yeah, with steam out now....I won't recommend those cdkey sites.

Not worth the risk to save a few bucks. Especially with all the other benefits of steam.

apparently once my account bought it it can't be used by another. and steam from now on. those cdkey sites have bess price but it seems they don't have official approval to sell certain games.
