TO MODIFY OR NOT TO MODIFY
« on: December 23, 2003, 03:43:51 PM »
That is the question.
Thinking about getting a PS2, now i could decide to modify it and get the games for a very cheap price
or
a could leave it and by the CD's regular price.

Now from my experience burn games doesn't last very long, the tend to stick at an early stage. i could burn the cd over and over when this occurs but doing this could come to the cost of an orginal CD.
Also i hear the have to take out the DVD chip to modify the Console.
Is it worth the modification.

So...
need some help do I, or don't I?

well, there are some advantages to the modification, like playin burned ps2 games BUT, there's the disadvantage of disabling the DVD player and the system may become faulty, so if i were u, i'd go research on the modificating of a ps2 system and check out how it will affect the console and the games...

I'm going to get one soon, but I decided to not modify.
I'm going to support the developers and buy original games.
Besides the price not that bad either.
$300 - $400 for a game. By the time I finish it I will have another $400 to buy a new one so it will work out nice.
Plus I want the DVD player for my room.

I don't trust modification for ps2, but it might be good the cash strapped gamer with some nice perks too.

There are two ills needed for success, skill and will. Which one do you value more?

its worth the modification. firstly your dvd player stays intact, the new chips doesnt interfere with the dvd player, playing dvd movies will be the same. the new mod chips also unlock other regions so you can play dvd movies from all over. the new chips also support online gaming. and burn games last long. since its a ps2, it uses dvd. so when you burn to a dvd media it will last longer than normal cdr. i recomment not buying cheap blanks though. buy good ones. and let someone do the modification for you, a professional. if you screw up your system , warranty done void just by opening it, then is time to go on your knees and beg mummy for a new console.

im being very honest when i say i wouldnt have had so many origianls if i wasnt workin in the uk. i dont care what ppl say about support the industry when they wanna charge you the cost of a plane ticket and custom duty on a game they will know where to put it.
frankly ps2 modding is about safe as owning a PS2 on the whole. the only draw back is when things go bad you cant tell them what to do with their piece of ...... well you get the idea.
