Logitech G11 is a good bet.  There's also the G15, but it costs a good bit more,
because of the LCD, but you may not need it.

The G11 also has a 2-port USB hub included, so that's another plus.
Also, there's a hardware switch to turn off the Windows key.  If you ever hit that key by
mistake during a frantic gaming session and then Windows boots you out of the game
and brings up the Start menu, then you'll understand the need for that switch.

G15 is nice, there is a new G19 but it is expensive...

G19 out of my range and i doubt i'll use the lcd in the g15

I actually looking for a small sized keyboard and see the g11 is larger than the eclipse 2 so that might direct me to the saitek. any other small sized illuminated keyboards?

And what's a good mouse to buy also??

Good is really subjective.

There's Razer (if you're a gamer) and Logitech...and then there's everything else.

As wired mice go, the Razer Lachesis, Death Adder, etc are great mice.
There's also the Logitech MX518, G5, G7(wireless), G9.

I use the G7 myself, but most people find it too 'heavy' for gaming.  I CANNOT go back to a wired mouse ever again.

Microsoft has just released the Sidewinder X8, which I'm considering.
Its a toss-up between that, and the Razer Mamba as an upgrade from the G7.

I have the Saitek Eclipse II for my rig, if you don't care about gaming macros and other such features, it's a good keyboard, plus I love the 3 light options available.

Personally, the red lighting works best when gaming at night...the purple is brightest overall.

I have the Razer Lycosa keyboard. Excellent for night gaming. Although the keys are kinda hard to see in the day. As far as mice go, can't go wrong with Razer Diamondback 3G. I have one, and don't plan to change that anytime soon.

x2, it works brilliantly, and it's not 'ergonomic', so it isn't a pain in the @#$ for southpaws such as myself to use them.

Just to let you know the g11s and g15s do give problems and stop working after a period of time.
I wouldnt vouch for the saitek either but nonetheless it is a safer buy atm.
through the many gaming keyboards Ive tested and gone through.

I end up using this one

anyhow good buy hope you enjoy your keyboard.
