Been watching Castle from Season 1 right up of late, pretty good show, crima drama with comedic element, not unlike Mentalist or Psych.

Definitely Awesome Approved!!

would of loved to see the second season even though the writing was pretty generic.

lol @ terra nova extinct

can't say that I'd miss it terribly.

saw the writing on the wall when posting this some time back

Jury's still out on that one

http://if.com.au/2012/01/11/article/Terra-Nova-profitable-but-second-series-yet-to-be-given-the-green-light/CRBVDQYNPL.html

They should have done better

There is talk of it being shopped around but that seldom pans out

Terra Nova started off interesting but I lost interest after a few episodes. Spartacus really going good though hehe.

Yet another series I've come to love bites the dust.
Disagree strongly about the writing.  It was actually starting to pick up.  I can see the mythos they were trying to create with the overarching plot.

Opportunity lost.

...but dawson creek superman could get how many seasons?  Eight?

Ridiculous.   :shakehead:

Dawson creek Superman had ten seasons but those seasons combined probably cost less than one season of Terra Nova.

...but Fox say they 'made money on it'?

I appreciate how expensive the show is,  but damn,  give it a fighting chance at least.  If after season 2, the 'oomph' still ain't there, then I could understand wanting to can it.

There's a bigger picture here though, that I touched on before when SGU was canned: the American viewing public, sorry to say, is too 'dumb' to appreciate quality writing and character development in sci-fi television.

So many great series canned by the very Fox, before they had a chance to really come into their own.

I dunno, maybe the mindset of the people running the networks need to change with respect to sci-fi.  Right now, the bottom line is to score a 'hit'.  Unfortunately, that mentality has cost us a lot of potentially great shows.

yeah, terra nova did not deliver on the bang for the buck, at all.

I love sci fi and I could readily see that.

it turned into a swiss family robinson in the past, with a smattering of dinosaurs and advanced technology juxtaposed against a tribe of tree dwellers and capitalists

could have been awesome if they got all those parts right.....but they didn't.

May have done better as a trilogy released on the big screen where the income would justify the spend and they could go all out.

That's where firefly ended up as well....in the form of Serenity.

Likewise for Star Trek.

Oh and don't forget....star trek was canned after its first run as well. So all may not be lost

Did you watch every single episode TW?  I did.
What exactly do you mean by 'did not deliver '?   What did you expect, really, given the show's premise?

You sound just like one of the bean counters that probably decided the show was 'not worth renewing'.

...and yes,  ah totin,  because there's almost nothing worthwhile on TV right now,  except maybe Fringe,  if you're a hardcore sci-fi fan.

QFT... it is evident as shows like jersey shore and desperate housewives going strong

lol @ bean counter

as I've said a million times on this very forum, sci fi is my thing....and sorry, Terra Nova did not deliver to me (their target audience)

and yes, watched every single episode.

Trying to be the cosby's in the past with random wild dinosaurs did not go over well. It had too much mild family melodrama and not enough spark.

Ironically, I loved Falling Skies which tried a similar formula...that is, all family focused, chuck full of teenage angst and pre-teen coming of age stuff...amidst the backdrop of a post apocalyptic alien invasion.

For some reason, that father+sons mechanic worked there. As did the rag tag smattering of humanity fighting for survival against all odds.

It just didn't in Terra Nova. The sense of danger, urgency...."we are all that stands between humanity and extinction" wasn't there.

Trying my best to put it in words for your benefit boy arc....really wish they had succeeded. Had really really high hopes from the trailer.

Annnnnd… they’re off!
TV’s annual Renew/Cancel Season formally kicked off on Wednesday with CBS renewing 15 shows for the 2012-13 TV season, including, of course, NCIS (as well as its offshoot NCIS: Los Angeles), the freshman shows Person of Interest and 2 Broke Girls, and the acclaimed The Good Wife.

All told, here are CBS’ 18 returning programs; there is no predicting when the other networks will announce their own renewals, let alone this early

Comedy
2 Broke Girls
The Big Bang Theory
How I Met Your Mother
Mike & Molly

Drama
Blue Bloods
Criminal Minds
CSI
The Good Wife
Hawaii Five-0
The Mentalist
NCIS
NCIS: Los Angeles
Person of Interest

Other
48 Hours Mystery
60 Minutes
The Amazing Race
Survivor
Undercover Boss

Not making the cut, at least thus far, are veteran procedurals CSI: NY and CSI: Miami and the on-again/off-again Rules of Engagement, while freshmen series such as A Gifted Man, Unforgettable and Rob are also MIA
