One of the most definitive shows in TV History

The show focused on the lives of a group of six friends: Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey, Ross, and Phoebe. As the show begins, Rachel leaves her fiancé at the altar and moves in with her childhood best friend, Monica, who lives across the hall from Chandler and Joey. They all hang out with Monica's brother, Ross – who recently divorced his lesbian wife – and Phoebe, the "free spirit" of the bunch and Monica's old room mate. The settings for the show include Monica's apartment, Chandler and Joey's apartment and the coffee shop downstairs, "Central Perk".

Rachel was a spoiled Daddy's girl who gets her first job as a waitress in the coffee shop and later becomes a personal shopper at Bloomingdale's, then a buyer for Ralph Lauren. Monica is a chef, who, for the first several seasons, struggles for success, and later opens her own upscale restaurant. Chandler is a data processor who eventually switches to a career in advertising. Joey is a struggling New York actor. Ross is a paleontologist who works at a museum; in later years, he becomes a college professor. Phoebe ekes out a living as a singer-songwriter and a masseuse.

A constant story line throughout the series is the on-again/off-again romance between Ross and Rachel, and later in the series, the developing relationship between Chandler and Monica.

Fellas, after being brought to tears by episode 10 of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, I would like to retract my earlier statement where I said:

The dialog is no match for HBO's Rome nor the character development.

They have indeed developed the character's very nicely, to the point that you start giving a damn. The plot twists also got a lot less predictable. Totally caught off guard by the last episode.

The acting by the titular lead was noteworthy. You could feel the pain emanating from the screen yes.

Starz is developing a six-episode miniseries prequel to its freshman hit, Spartacus: Blood and Sand, in order to keep the series' momentum after its star, Andy Whitfield, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma a month ago and production on a second season was indefinitely postponed.

The series (the finale of which airs next week) has been Starz's first original-series hit, averaging a million viewers each week; the network green-lighted season 2 a month before it even premiered, but now, with Whitfield in treatment, Starz finds itself with empty sets, actors, producers, and writers very expensively standing by.

A prequel (Gladiator Babies, perhaps?) would keep the sets and creative staff productive, while holding on to the original show's fans.

The season finale was AWESOME. Best series I've seen in years. I've never seen a show turn around so much from start to finish.

You know, that was so good, I don't even think a season 2 is necessary yes. Besides, who would fill the void left by Batiatus? His dialog alone was half of the show, if not more

Not that many loose ends left either. Glaber, whose been absent from the screen so long that I've lost any interest in seeing him receive a comeuppance. The ridicule of his men @ spartacus's hand proved sufficient as was the side plot between Lecretia and his wife, she being the real person behind Spartacus's troubles in the first place (going back to episode 1)

What do we have left? Crixxus and his woman? Asher who made good his escape? Minor matters that could be left to the imagination, lol. A perfect series as is. They need not draw it out and risk sullying the fine works wrought.

Man, Varro's wife stabbed the fk out of that kid. I was like "yesssssss! yessssss!!!!!!!!!!!" the whole time lol. After episode 10 I wished someone would have slapped him...but this was sooooooo much better =]
