JAPANESE MEMORY MAKER PHOTOFAST has released three PCI-based solid state drives (SSD) to compete with the recent offering from OCZ.
The G-Monster series drives come in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB flavours and slot into PCI Express x8 slots normally used for graphics, audio and networks cards among other things.
A built-in RAID 0 controller offers read speeds of 750MB per second and write speeds of 700MB. Windows Vista and XP are both bootable from the drives which should speed things up a bit.
Weighing in at 680 grams, the drives promise a rather ambitious MBFT (mean time before failure) of 1.5 million hours! That's about 171 years if our maths - and the translation - is right.
The apparently-indestructible storage devices will hit the market in June at an as-yet undisclosed price, but it ain't gonna be cheap. µ
