My only gripe with this school is dat, i have to fear for my life all day, some rel criminal elements in the area and in the school, cyar go a day in this school without seein blood on d ground or some child in ah bloody fight... (but then again, going home from school at nights after 9:00 is just as daunting)...

This brings up my main issue... I wanna get the hell outta Trinidad, it too damn unsafe... but then again, so is every where else in the world :S

But Noob... i think i have to agree with you....
*Goes to save money to buy land*

It real sickening eh, you trying to make an honest living, pitching in to help youth and what do you get a stab/bullet.....wtmc

I done tell myself (and certain teachers) I have no reservation to crown any student who coming at me with any outright attempts of physical harm. When they come at me, they better with attack with full force! I was shown a form 3 student who like to rob other students and hear oh he have "friends with guns"..... i hope he know how to use one... and to dodge projectiles from one.

Back on topic: I am looking forward to the end of the term. I have a couple of projects to inolement in the school with the principal's approval, namely enabling internet access across the entire school, and hopefully 100% wifi coverage in the process.

My Job is seldom boring, usually challenging and as most none government IT... aka private sector... it doh pay enough XD but I have a job so Praise Jah!!!

Hmm. I thought private sector paid more. I guess i was misinformed. Are you an IT manager? I would think if you're an IT manager , business analyst or systems analyst you would be getting a good salary. Am i wrong here, is Trinidad that lame.

Also, who here invests in the stock market, local or international?

Has anyone been laid off in the IT industry or knows off anyone who has been. I keep reading in the papers about Trinidad Jobs dwindling and wanted to know it this has spread into the IT industry.

I know in companies when budget cuts are being made, IT is the first to go.

It was predicted since before last year though... where i worked (was in dat sector), we had regular talks about it with all stakeholders...
So is not like it was not expected

Yeah it is unfortunate that there was not more diversification away from the energy sector over the past few years...

With the infinite amount of sunshine we have in the Caribbean it is a shame it is not put to better use....I guess solar technology isn't there yet?

I've always found the topic of Free Energy Suppression interesting, even if physics shows it to be an impossibility eg. Perpetual Motion Machines etc...

You cannot really generalize as to whether private sector or government pays more, it's a relative scenario.
thats not true
in trinidad , government sector pays more in IT jobs.
Even IT managers in private sector make less than government counterparts for companies of relatively same size and complexity. There are exceptions, but they are just that.. exceptions.

Well I more or less sidelined and scaled to a minimal level the running of my own business to take up a new job with the government. I need only to point you to the WTMC thread to show you the horrors I've had to endure (and still endure).

I started my job a this prestige school all bubbling in January. I loved it.
Fast forward to today and I am half-wanting out.

Only the salary and the need to make something better of myself in the next 5 years ( a la degree) keeping me there. I still have some leeway in done what I want, but the office politics and me fast become the unwilling "IT gofor" (shut up , Cross!), rude, disrespectful children which I like to toss in front on traffic on Mucurapo road (yes I sell out the school name right there).

I just need for the term to over to recover from the bs and re-focus to be good for the while.

They say you have to stoop to conquer sometimes, I'll do that. I just hope i ent get mash down while stooping.

IMAGINES MOSES ON RIDDING SAX's BACK... LMAO

My only gripe with this school is dat, i have to fear for my life all day, some rel criminal elements in the area and in the school, cyar go a day in this school without seein blood on d ground or some child in ah bloody fight... SO ppl have laptops in that school now???
Worst yet COD battles in free periods... Garcia Must be drunk?

Just started my dream job as a Copy Writer at the beginning of this year - and I love it. The pay is cool (could be better but that's a moot point as I'm not one who makes money an issue once I enjoy my job), there is a great degree of challenge and I am never bored.

I get to come up with fun ideas all day and though, due to the conservative nature of Trinidad and Tobago's corporate clientele, many of them get rejected it's nice to know that I created that. That is me...all me.
