Hey at least you get long holidays with working for a school. I have to wait ah whole fricking year to get 10 lousy days.

salary is not impressive, even at higher ranks
but membership does have benefits

and military pension is quite good once yu have moved up ranks sufficiently.

as for me, dream job no.
It takes a miracle for IT in trinidad to be respected AND paid their worth, so until i hit that double mark, ill still be searching.

I know what the problem is with IT jobs in general.

Typically, users/customers only call you when they have a problem.

They associate IT (and by extension you) with a negative experience.

We have our moments, when doling out a new laptop or a blackberry or some kick ass piece of software BUT 95% of the time, they are knocking on our doors/ringing our phones when they are having an issue.

Not a good place to be.

How many of you love your dentist??

My Job is seldom boring, usually challenging and as most none government IT... aka private sector... it doh pay enough XD but I have a job so Praise Jah!!!

i second this.. no matter how *good* you do you job in IT, you can never exceed expectations, reason being, it is expected that their software, hardware, phones, etc are up all the time.

they don't care you spend your entire weekend migrating stuff
once they have facebook, thas all they really care about. lol

dream job? wanna be a writer.. need to start back writing short stories

but can't find the time LOL

am i happy now? mosttly.. good days and bad days, but mostly good.. i try to find some aspect , and make that work for me in a positive light
i.e. get to interact with people, satisfy clients, small projects to keep mind lil sharp

Not too long started my job, it's not great but hey I have a job. Trying to use it as an avenue to my lil busines on the side

Good point yes having a job now is a good thing with all this recession talk and people losing their jobs. It may not be perfect but being unemployed aint that great either :p

Make a rounds at the end of the month...shout out "where my moneh???"

Deposit in the bank and then "sweat/lime on beach/travel the world/do whatever de hell I want" for the next 29 days.

Wash rinse repeat.

Now that is a dream job.

Both Sax and i hold the same position in different schools.. and no, we don't get holidays like teachers, we have to work during school holidays.

But my idea of a dream job is far from my mind. If i even try to think of it, i tend to have tooooo much ideas.
For example, i wanna be an
IT tech (check),
A Comp Sci Lecturer (coming soon to a University near you),
A Graphic Design Artist,
A Web design and web app engineer,
Professional Programmer,
Technologist,
Inventor,
Forensic Analysis (IT wise)...

and there's more!
but we digress. For now, my job gives me alot more $ than i used to get, and it gives me the time i need to finish off my degree, so for now, its good enough. I'm accustomed to workin with office confusion and corporate attitudes, so it doh get to me...

My only gripe with this school is dat, i have to fear for my life all day, some rel criminal elements in the area and in the school, cyar go a day in this school without seein blood on d ground or some child in ah bloody fight... (but then again, going home from school at nights after 9:00 is just as daunting)...

This brings up my main issue... I wanna get the hell outta Trinidad, it too damn unsafe... but then again, so is every where else in the world :S

But Noob... i think i have to agree with you....

People harassing you all the time, toilet always need fixing, the ceiling dropping, they complain when the rent goes up, the complain that their neighbours making too much noise, they complain that they can't make enough noise, you have to deal with personal complaints on other neighbours, boundary issues...

Wait...am I stomping on your dream? sorry...
