Are you happy in your job??/ Do you have your dream job?
« on: March 24, 2009, 03:15:07 PM »
It is anyone else feeling like all your life is about waking up at some ungodly hour, fighting up with traffic to go to work. Then do the reverse to get home and wash, rinse  & repeat. Gorsh life is so daunting and dreary if you stop to think about it.

Do you all stay in a job just because of the pay even though you hate the job?

I just wanted to know if Gatters are happy about their jobs and if you would change if you got the opportunity or get over you fears or whatever.

An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.

I love my job (IT of course), I get to do a wide variety of tasks...anything and everything really, occasionally they throw in a Tobago trip, I live within walking distance, it pays just enough to save a little and feed the upgrade jumbie AND my gf works upstairs...nuff said.

boy i don't have enough chakra. I'm like Ino when i should be like Naruto. :(
If only it was that easy.
I don't even know if any job could make me happy. I will have to work for myself on my own terms.

Of course the major barrier to that is RESPONSIBILITY. I grew up with the intention that i will never work for anybody and i must work on my own terms. Hell i tried my hands at a couple of businesses myself. But in the end the B!tch that is responsibility seems to rule the day.

Lucky for me i did end up in my dream job ATM. Salary is fair, though i am worth twice as much. But hey, i get to work at home, as long as i put in my 40 hours weekly, bossman don't mind.

Lucky for me i did end up in my dream job ATM. Salary is fair, though i am worth twice as much. But hey, i get to work at home, as long as i put in my 40 hours weekly, bossman don't mind.

I speak from the perspective of my wife. She has a Masters Degree from Columbia University, a Bachelor's Degree from New York University, worked as a teacher for 3 years and did not like it due to the administration and the bullshit she dealt with on a daily basis as part of the "JOKE" that is the New York City Public School system.

She quit her position after she was "excessed" in October '08 and has since been working her DREAM job as a writer, she just finished her first novel and is currently searching for Agents to have her book published. I have never seen her happier as she LOVES her job. I support her in what she does and we both look forward to her success as a writer. I am her POSITIVE reinforcement when she doubts herself and that is my "JOB" and I am happy doing it..

I myself work as a Project Manager at a Construction Company and I am content with my job for the while. Does that mean I will not get into my own business one day? NO, I am 31 years old and have time to pursue that if I want to later on. Right now, I have no complaints...

I happen to like my job very much.  I just don't like my present posting.
It pays well enough so that I can feed my tech-obssessed habits, so I'm not complaining too much.

My dream job though?

I wanted to be fighter-pilot.  Seriously.

Imagine driving one of these everyday...

funny how men content with their pay as long as it feeds their tech-obsessed habits. HEHE
I mean I want my job to feed my gaming habits but I want more too. LIke to travel the world, buy or build a kick ass house, retire early, set up a charity foundation and save for kids (if i have any) future.

What about you Arc. You own your own home? have money for wedding and ting? Hope i not bole face for asking.

Well I more or less sidelined and scaled to a minimal level the running of my own business to take up a new job with the government. I need only to point you to the WTMC thread to show you the horrors I've had to endure (and still endure).

I started my job a this prestige school all bubbling in January. I loved it.
Fast forward to today and I am half-wanting out.

Only the salary and the need to make something better of myself in the next 5 years ( a la degree) keeping me there. I still have some leeway in done what I want, but the office politics and me fast become the unwilling "IT gofor" (shut up , Cross!), rude, disrespectful children which I like to toss in front on traffic on Mucurapo road (yes I sell out the school name right there).

I just need for the term to over to recover from the bs and re-focus to be good for the while.

They say you have to stoop to conquer sometimes, I'll do that. I just hope i ent get mash down while stooping.
God is dead.
