Was thinking the same thing Rage, GOTY contender for sure.

And yea I have high hopes for this game, only because we have quality proof of what the game promises to deliver. Plus given Rockstar's current track record this looks like another win for them.

Thing is though, we don't know what the actual breakdown is yet. Are these the recommended or highly recommended specs? Waiting for a better breakdown.

Edit: Ok Im now re-reading the list and actually now seeing the dashes used to separate the hardware items. So then it would be from Minimum go up.

http://kotaku.com/5904303/max-payne-3-multiplayer-is-good-essential-and-rockstars-boldest-move-in-year?tag=preview

:shakehead:

Yeah... I read that, and the very 1st comment sums it right up for me...

Quote
Max Payne 3 multiplayer is built on a familiar modern foundation. It has headshots and its own form of perks. It lets you earn experience points for kills amd assists, and it will let you level up and unlock better weapons and perks. All of that is standard and, in that combination, has been since Infinity Ward's revolutionary Call of Duty IV: Modern Warfare.

Pack it in, ladies and gentlemen. We're done here.

It's funny (okay, less funny and more just depressing as hell) how as I read this article, and the more excited and detailed Totilo's descriptions got, the LESS I found myself wanting to ever play this game. Truthfully, I went from passively neutral on the game to pretty actively not wanting to buy it. I loved the first two Payne games, yet every single new thing I learn about the third one seems to push me away even more. It doesn't even look like noir anymore, on top of the boorish, hideously bad redesign for Max and the over-focus on multiplayer.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, and I'll keep saying it until the industry breathes its last breath: multiplayer should only ever be a bonus in narrative-based games, not the main attraction. If multiplayer is the main attraction in your narrative-based game, you have failed as a designer and a developer. Especially when that multiplayer is grindy "carrot-on-a-stick" multiplayer that turns the game into an endless Ouroboros built solely around keeping itself in your console as long as possible without providing any new, meaningful content.

At least Battlefield never pulled any punches pushing itself as primarily being multiplayer-focused.
The single-player 'add-ons' to Bad Company and Battlefield 3 were seen as just that...add-ons.

*wonders if Max Payne 3 is coming out on PC*   :icon_pirat:

Does it seem that I've grown cynical and jaded over the last few years?  Well you're right.
My wallet (and its contents, or lack thereof, for that matter) has turned me into an overly-cynical muhfugga.
As a consequence, there shall be no more wastage of coin and time on games that just want to copy/paste ideas from others.

I'll not stand for it.

http://www.rockstargames.com/downloads#/?collection=3&series=30

Stumbled upon the motherload of Max payne 3 wallpapers.

But wait am I missing something here? In the previous months they were focusing only on the SP aspect of it. Only now recently they just had to spotlight the MP a little. I don't see how it's the main focus at all. The way I see it from all the vids and commentaries they did MP and SP are both separate experiences just that  MP has the narrative cinematic feel of the singleplayer while still being it's own thing.

From all ive seen and read, the game appears to be meaty in both the single player and the multiplayer. If in doubt just look at Rockstar's other offerings. Yea they stated that the multiplayer would be well fleshed out, but I really doubt the single player would suffer.

In any case time would tell. Max Payne 3 was originally the only single player I was really looking forward to this year (then dishonored came into the picture) have all meh fingers and toes crossed that this lives up to the hype. Otherwise its steam bargain bin.

Singeplayer and myself being a huge Max Payne fan are the only reasons I am buying this game, multiplayer just sweetens the deal a little and I ain't touching that till I play the campaign twice on different difficulties.

From what I've seen and read the integrity of the singleplayer seems to be there.

Game releases on the 18th so we'll see but I can guarantee it will be worth it. For PC the 29th, looking forward to pc reviews more to see how well it was developed in terms of performance since they claimed it isn't just simply a port.
