Dell Support in Trinidad
« on: March 20, 2009, 03:55:29 PM »
Anyone has experience with Dell Support in Trinidad? I'm looking at Dell laptops on the tt site, prices are high. Friends have recommended them since they offer their extended warranty here. Anyone have good/bad experiences with them? It could be worth it if it offers piece of mind

Our Ministry deals exclusively with Dell. They usually come quickly and replace parts rather quickly and painlessly. If I submit a form to the vendor today, either by the next day or two working days after they come.

A little known fact is that a company called Microtron actually handle all Dell and HP repairs in the country. They even handle in and out of warranty repairs on machines bought abroad...

There are many licensed Dell resellers, but I do not know of any official dealers, so
I'm not sure where in TnT you'll actually find those prices.

Better to buy it abroad. It will always be cheaper, and Dell will honour the warranty anyway.
When you report a warranty issue to them, they'll usually 'hire' a company here to actually visit you
where you are with the replacement part/device.  I've personally done this many times, so I can concur
with the Cap'n on this one.

Dell is one of the few that actually do. So it has merit. I stand by the Dell recommendation for that fact and that fact alone.

They honor us as a region.

Been trying to find the Acer support people for Trinidad (supposedly there is one) and have had zero luck. Hard Google-Fu bore no fruit.

So u saying if I order a Dell off the us site I will still get the warranty honored here? I looked at dell.com/tt and their prices more expensive than the us site.

To me the prices at the tt site is the same but you get less options. Do you have an address for microtron or number. I need to replace my hard drive and battery

An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.

I am aware of this. I used to work for them at the time they were getting the certifications. I'm a Dell Certified Systems Expert, actually, thanks to them.

Microtron is located obliquely opposite Hott Shoppe.

Not too sure...call them and inquire...Let us know.

I wonder if there's a way to get certified privately...last I heard it took some doing.

Point to note:

You must get it thru the "Small & Medium Business" section. Otherwise you'll get that sucky Return to Depot warranty, which will screw you over BIG time...

Make sure you select their Next Business Day Warranty, that's the one that'll be honored here.

(talking from experience with a Dell Laptop that had only Return to Depot warranty, spent ~$1200-$1400 to upgrade to NBD for 1 year!!!

So no other warranty will be honored? ONLY if you go through S&M Business and choose next bus day warranty will it be honored down here?

Well with Dell, so far with my Studio, I had to utilise their warranty because of an AC adapter that failed after 6 weeks of use.

Contacted them (online - via chat system) on a Friday at 2pm, was contacted for delivery of a replacement adapter on Monday morning, had new adapter by 12pm the same day. I'm on a 3 year warranty (not CompleteCare though).

I dunno how efficient it will be for actual system servicing, but so far I've been impressed.

Dell's service, in conjunction with Netsar's is excellent. The only time they stick is if they dont have a part in stock and they have to order it from dell directly. Sometimes Dell sends the wrong item so that could lenghten the process. Other than that, is quick service.

Which is why I always tell people...if you buying a laptop, buy a Dell and done...with warranty, so if something breaks, you in 'good' hands.
