I have a dell xps m1710 with a warrenty that just ran out and now it won't charge....When plugged it init will stay on but my ? is can i set it up so it will restart on ac power only?

? Everytime i need to restart it it says it cant rec the ac supply so i take out the ac and it starts on battery then i just plug it back in....but with the battery at less then half i'm kinda getting worried it won't restart al all..So is there a way i can just set up bios or something to start on ac only?

Check the pin in the power connector.

one time I encountered that and it was because the pin was bent.

You are supposed to run on AC power even with the battery missing, no setup changes required.

pins ok .....just it wont start w/out the battery i keep getting errors guess off to a fix shop i go...

Ok so it boots with the battery in, but dose it stay on if you remove the battery and keep the power cord in?. If yes the battery may be going bad.
