GATT - Game of the Year [2008] (Nomination Thread)

The year's nearly up, we've seen amazing titles come and go, possibly better than 2007.
To following in the tradition started, and to make this an annual event here's the 2nd GATT Game of the Year.

Every poster is allowed to nominate any 3 games (that they played) of which they think should be awarded the GATT Game of the Year Title ...
As you guys post I'll update the first post, with the nominations...

Then the top 5 will be selected and added as a poll to this topic...
Then the voting begins!

Nominations End December 23rd @ 12am (Tuesday Night)
The poll will be up on the 23rd/b]

Rules:

1.) You are only allowed to nominate 3 titles.

2.) The game must have been released within the year 2008.. (January to now)
If you don't know the date, still post and I'll verify the release, or you yourself can do the honors

3.) In all fairness, the nominees should have been played by the poster (to avoid biased votes for a particular title, Nominate what you played and loved).

Based on the above Nomination Votes, Platform Specific GOTY's will be awarded to the game with the most votes appearing on a particular platform.
If the game is Multiplatform, but has the most votes and appears on a particular console, that game will win GOTY for that console, that is if the votes surpass a platform specific exclusive.

Well I guess I'll start off.

So in no particular order

-Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
-Left 4 Dead
-Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3

Personally I think it'll come down to MGS4 and GOW2.

Seriously though, assassins creed for PC came out this year. That was the best game thus far (except FC2)

Not a bad idea...
Was considered...But then there was the issue of categories, and games appearing on multiple platforms.
As an addition to the system, nominations will still be accepted as is, and at the end of nominations, the games will be subdivided into the various platforms regardless of multi-platform appearance, and based on Nomination votes.

The current system will apply for GOTY as that covers every game.
