Puzzling!! my upgrade has left me disabled (well, worse off than before :S)

Help guys!! last saturday I got fed up with my flakey AMD system (i know Crixx gonna laugh ) so i finally bit the bullet and splurged on an Intel P35 based Gigabyte MoBo GA-EP35-DS3L and a Q6600 Processor! my AMD board & processor were sold by sunday!

As I mentioned in the WTMC thread, i immediately noticed an issue when i tried to use my Line6 KB37 Keyboard/control surface as the default sound device (which i had quite successfully done with the AMD system mind you!). i spent the whole of yesterday troubleshooting and looking for a work around. what i did realize after much research on the Line6 website (see Link), was that apparently there is an 'issue' with Intel chipsets; ICH9 in my case, and USB signaling causing drop-outs in communication and rendering as white noise. I have no clue where to head to next with this issue.

The OTHER issue i've recently discovered which i refuse to swallow is that I can't install any games! When i try to use Daemon tools to install from an image of the game, within 3~5 mins of the installation, the PC freezes, and the only option is to hit the reset button!

my upgrade has left me with MORE faults than when i was with the 'flakey' AMD pc!

did u buy that stuff here or are they imported ? if u bought it here y not cash in on the warranty maybe it's just a defective board. contact gigabyte and ask for assistance maybe all you need is a bios flash/upgrade... u did upgrade the bios right....? on AT i heard that the 45nm chips can seriously mess up your bios and u would have had to flash the bios prior to installing with a 65 nm chip. cause if the bios dies then u definitely need to contact gigabyte and either get a rma or work something out

1.give us the full specs for the system, hardware and software etc etc...

3.the latest stable bios i believe is F5 for your board

q66 is a 65nm chip and is supported by my DP965LTK from Intel...at launch bios, i highly doubt that is the culprit unless its a defective CPU in which case you would have noticed problems much bigger than not being able to install games.

also i would like to take this time to bash the hell outta deamon tools.
the amt ah troubles i trace back to that, namely the up-F@#$ing of my Disk controller drivers...Alcohol 52% ftw

arrite, i have the latest of all drivers including the BIOS which i did last night and it is the F5.

system specs are:

said mobo & cpu.
2GB crucial tracer DDR2 PC2 6400
2 SATAII drives, on is the boot, the other is docs.

maybe i'll try uninstalling Daemon tools and see if that solves the audio stutter problem, then try out Alcohol 52%. thanks

also daemon tools has some versions that can seriously mess u up....

I just uninstalled Daemon tools, ran a C Cleaner, and restarted twice for good measure! same stutter

...the quest for a solution continues...

daemon tools gave me trouble for awhile after a format and new parts...so i tried poweriso....problem solved..u have any original games or possible security apps installed that could fudge up gaming installs?


also that stutter issue i used to get in games and normal apps after an overclock...is the chip on stock? All the latest drivers for mobo chipset etc?

all drivers updated including chipset & BIOS

...i've chosen the Q6600 so that i don't have to overclock, and on this sytem, i've never attempted overclocking.

Arrite, using Alcohol 52% I was able to install GRiD successfully! now... hear the NEXT MC issue! the sound is messed up, so much so that I can't hear the car revving while driving or the pretty ladies' voice during the introduction, or even the tacky guy tellin you how you've screwed up. steups!!!! i installed the Grid 1.2 patch right after, and didn't bother install the GRID 1.1 patch, do you suppose that could be the reason?? S**T this is getting to me, 4 days straight dealing with MC surprises!!

^^think the safest is to go 1.1 then do the 1.2 patch and use the 1.1 nodvd crack since  the 1.2 makes teh game behave crazy. Phillo alerted me to that little problem last night and it's working fine for me. Hope that helps.

i'll have to uninstall then reinstall, i'm not seeing an uninstall for the 1.2 patch

arrite, i uninstalled GRiD completely, ran C Cleaner, then reinstalled, didn't apply any patches, and tested, still no sounds while playing. the sounds return during the replay, but no sounds from my car. I hear the sounds of the other cars though. I also don't hear the voices that are always talking to you during the game. stumped again,

i had those same sound issues with Grid actually, it was only after a format that it started back working, what is your sound card setup? it could be that the latest drivers have an issue...
