A new rush of first person shooters is making its way to consoles, and Nameco's Breakdown is a part of it. In the game you play Derrick Cole, a man trapped inside a mysterious laboraoty and beset with amnesia. In fact you only know your name because the woman who comes to break you out of the lab refers to you as "Derrick." You don't know much but you know you are important-though you don't know why.
Breakdown is presented in a sirst person shooter style, but the game goes a few steps further. rather than running over health power-ups to heal your self, you actually have to go over to a soda machine, buy a soda ans drink it, the camera the whole time to simulate the movements of your character's head. Phone calls and radio messages push the story along. Breakdown also features facial animation that, according to the developers, makes Half-life 2's similar system look like old news,(blasphemy, i know chronos, blasphemy!).
There is also an element of first person, no not shooting, but boxing! Yes
poor old Derrick has been experimented on and given fantastic physical powers which seem to bring about bouts of, get this first person vomitting. Make you want to go right out and grab this goodie, thing is you are gonna hafta wait till early '04
