I'm pretty certain we say this every year

Nope... What were the HUGE movies of last year? I don't even remember, hence I can say it couldn't have been all that great

The following classifications are my own and not in any way the views of the forum or public at large. That being said I will abbreviate the following phrases and append to each movie mentioned - NWGMT Not Worth Going Movietowne  WGMT Worth Going Movietowne WAFT  Waste Ah F%^&* Time HS Haven't Seen
3.10 to Yuma NWGMT
Blades of Glory HS Haven't Seen
Smoking Aces HS Haven't Seen
Superbad WAFT  Waste Ah F%^&* Time
Transformers WGMT Worth Going Movietowne
Hitman NWGMT
Michael ClaytonHS Haven't Seen
Ocean's 13 WGMT Worth Going Movietowne
Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End NWGMT Not Worth Going Movietowne
Saw 4 NWGMT Not Worth Going Movietowne
American Gangster WGMT Worth Going Movietowne

let's face it, every year is a big year for movies, is just most people only remember the bigger franchises, the HP's, the LOTR's, the SW's etc.
And yes laertes is quite right, usually only the LOTRs etc are remembered, that being said only Transformers imho is worth the mention.

Some reviews of last yr stuff  (because I'm bored)

Transformers

Pros:
Good visual effects
Good Sound Effects

Cons:
Micheal Ga..I mean Bay
Crappy Script
Some crappy editing
Use of pop music...where a good adrenaline inducing score would be better

Verdict: Enjoyable the 1st time in the theater, with noisy friends. A 7/10

PotC: At World's End

Pros:
Keira Knightly leg scene

Cons:
Pacing
Script not as funny as the 1st two...why so serious >_>
Multiple Sparrows scene
Keira Knightly's 'inspiring' speech...was more lulz worthy than inspiring

Verdict: For hardcore PotC fans. 6/10

3:10 to Yuma

Pros:
Best western since Open Range
More Enjoyable than Open Range
Better than the old 3:10
Sniping in the old west

Cons:
Can't think of any

A solid 9/10

Lol, I didn't say anything bad about the score at all, you got me wrong.

Was particularly referring to the scene where Sam and Mikela were being chased by barricade and some poppy song started. Couldn't they use one of Steve's track there???

Hmmm gotta see Hellboy 2 then. People clapped at the end of dark knight when I saw it...

Another Judd Apatow production that came out this year, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, is also right up there with Superbad.

People clap for Hellboy 2?
I find that movie was lame....lamest for the year actually..
Liked Indie more than that..
Heck i liked Journey to the Centre of the Earth more than Hellboy..
And I loved the first...
I guess its because I was feeling sleepy but...man that movie could have been better.

@ Friendly Sniper..
or Hor!
lol
Yea the guitar riff felt kinda outta place...
But that was for like 30seconds...
When you had put it like this: "Use of pop music...where a good adrenaline inducing score would be better"
I get very confused, it sounded like the movie did not have a nice score :P

Some terrible news here,

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince delayed until 2009

Quote
LOS ANGELES - Warner Bros. says it is bumping Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from its planned November US release into 2009.

The sixth installment in the blockbuster franchise about boy wizard Harry now will open in the United States on July 17 rather than Nov. 21, the studio said today.

The move was made to take advantage of an open weekend in Hollywood's busy summer season, said Alan Horn, Warner Bros. president and chief operating officer. The film had been on schedule, and the change was not due to any production snags, he said.

"The picture is completely, absolutely, 100 per cent on schedule, on time. There were no delays," Horn told The Associated Press. "I've seen the movie. It is fabulous. We would have been perfectly able to have it out in November."

The eight-month delay is expected to disappoint millions of Harry Potter fans who have been eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the blockbusting series.

The surprise move comes only two weeks after the film's teaser trailer debuted online.

Studio President and Chief Operating Officer Alan Horn says the studio has had success with past summer Harry Potter releases, including the fifth movie.

Horn also says the Writers Guild of America strike had "impacted the readiness of scripts for other films - changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of."

~Test Screening Review~ *contains spoilers*

Overall it seems David Yates has improved a lot, which is just awesome since the last movie was excellent. One thing I was worried about was how the part about 'The Cave' would be done on-screen, since that was my fav part of the book. Seems like there's nothing to worry about though!
