ok this is a bone stock run, will update after some oc's, it is clear my cpu is holding me back so next month I'll gt a q6600, I'm back on the 975 board as it's much more stable than the p35 one, at a loss of 200 marks or so.
so does this still qualify as a golden oldie system to lol

Oc'ing the cpu won't do too much, as if I compare to E8400's when I'm running @ 3.4 I get a 2700 cpu score, they get 28-2900. I will wait for the q6600 then oc the crap outta it, also this is a 4850 not 4870, bang for buck right now the best card out there and remember this was bone stock, I know I can hit 12k 3dmark06 scores ocing just the card but I neeed to let it burn in first lol.
I think I can hit 16k with the Q6600 with some tlc.
edit ok here is a oc of the card only then and a bit on the cpu, notice how it changes the results ALOT!

I get up to 65c under load, I have made 3 fan profiles and set the default fan to 50%, not so loud at 50 but 65 and higher it slounds like it wants to take off.

Please include the clocks of your overclocked gear as well...helps the rest of us get a clearer picture of what it takes to achieve the scores you get.

Well, there's no time like the present. That CPU could 'burn in' with a proper OC. Mine did 3.3 GHz (with a
modest voltage bump)
the same day
I installed it. OC de ting nah man. It wont blow up ya know.

well it's not the cpu as the 975 board that doesn't seem to want to oc with the q9450, it has a 400 fsb wall so I'm already close to it, I will start ocing it tonite in small steps.
as for the GPU I have not unlocked the bios as yet so the max on it stable is 690 gpu and 1200 for the ram, will screen shot it for ya, still a bit short of the 750 mhz the 4870 does stock, I know that the cards oc limit will be about 740-750 with stock cooling to.
I was hoping that it would scale better but knowing ocing the cpu could get me another 1k 3dmarks means I can hit the 14 or maybe the 15k mark with this setup, so semi officially the fastest single gpu system around as only the sli and x2 systems are faster ( will prove it once I oc the cpu )
I'll post more screenies once I fix vista again, damn installing a new cpu breaks it.
BTW who wanna update the standings lol.

I'm still waiting for a stock 3ghz quad at a reasonable price point to drop my dinars on but DAMN this score gives encouragement.

Interesting. That Q9450 is indeed superior. I noticed you attained a CPU score of 11854 at 2.8 GHz,
while my Q9300 languishes at 3 GHz with a 10781. The performance of the two are too close to
one another to justify the hefty price difference (well for me at least).
Try for 3 GHz now. *instigates*
