Zero Media - Console Repairs
« on: June 27, 2008, 10:25:24 PM »
Well as some of you all know my xbox360 died like 2months ago, and it has been send once before for repairs by microsoft, which cost about $500.00TT in shipping, so the 2nd time it died (1-2months after repairs) i just put it into a corner and left it there to collect dust.

Today my PS3 died at my lil brothers hands, to make a long story short he turned the system on and it freezed up for whatever reason and then he turned it off using the switch at the back of the ps3, after he turn it back on, and powered up the ps3 and he said it blinked a few times on screen and system cut off. now the red led will not even light up so it seems maybe the power supply in it went bad. I have tried switching cables, changing TV's, moving it to different power outlets in the house with a 100% failure rate. i have no idea how to fix or ship my ps3 back to sony, neither do i think i will be able to find my receipt for it, the ps3 is a 80gb version.

I've heard zero media can fix xbox360 and Wii's but no clue if they can fix a PS3, if anyone knows the information will really help, or if they know how i will be able to ship it to sony, even tho its not the solution i would really be looking for.

Thanks in advance for all the help

Scary at flipping switch off at back when frozen...
I've actually done that before (that is with the system locked up and the touch power button not responding either),
Hard luck at the failure..

Well definitely check out JK Entertainment...They do stuff like that.

Also you should get in contact with sony and they'll tell you what to do.

Anyone had any experience with Zero media 360 repairs? Are they reliable? Offer any sort of follow up repairs within a certain period? Lots of people having their 360's fail.

ok so i called JK Entertainment and basically they said they can only repair the ps3 if it has a problem with the lens, so they told me they wouldn't be able to fix mine, i called sony as well and spoke to a person who basically told me they can't do anything once its outside USA/ Canada so i screwed there. oh and zero media took the xbox360 to repair but they said they have no clue how to repair the ps3. so the only thing i can think of doing now is sending the ps3 to my uncle in USA and see if he can get it fixed.

Zero Media is a place near UWI its in the same building as Sip and Surf cyber cafe is. all i know is you pay a downpayment of $100.00 as for the repair cost of the Wii i dont' really know what they would charge.

Yeh i think you should get it back to Sony somehow, they don't need to know it was taken out of the US.

Try Zero also, but i guess seeing it's a control, depending on the price of repair just buy a new one.

open it up and try a ting. I used to open my ps2 controllers and clean and lubricate the joysticks whenever they give trouble.

Zero Media is pretty cool. the guys there are alright and Shane the guy that does most of the repairs is pretty helpful. i think its kinda pricey to repair a RROD 360 but it will cost you about $600 (same price as a software mod) to have it repaired if it can be repaired in the first place. the also fix and mod Wii although since i dont own one i wouldnt know the prices.

Thinking about software modding. But still unsure. Has anyone done it yet? Also
1) Can you still play on live and if so can you get banned easily.
2) If they brick the Xbox or drive well what happens I get a new Xbox? or what?
3) Do you have to carry the xbox in for updates or anything like to avoid bans on XBL or anything?
4) How much 4 a burn game
5) Was Zero media number lol
If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
TY

Yeah it is a risk you take when modding....this wave came just recently.

Microsoft Performs Mass Xbox Console Banning
Here's a Halloween surprise you probably weren't expecting.
by Jim Reilly

October 30, 2009 - Wake up this morning only to find your Xbox Live account has been banned? That's probably because you had a modded console and were playing illegal, pirated copies of games.

"We have taken action against a small percentage of consoles that have been modified to play pirated game discs," a Microsoft spokesperson told IGN. "In line with our commitment to combat piracy and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of our Xbox LIVE community, we are suspending these modded consoles from Xbox LIVE."

Though Microsoft wouldn't confirm specifically when these bannings took place, a quick look over on its official forums suggest it's been going on over the course of this past week. Plenty of users have created threads on the technical feedback forum reporting of having their Xbox 360 console banned.

Microsoft also added this is a standing policy and isn't tied to any specific time-frame.

"All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs violates the Xbox LIVE terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox LIVE," the spokesperson added. "The health of the video game business depends on customers paying for the genuine products and services they receive from manufacturers, retailers, and the third parties that support them."

don't own a modern console myself (sister have a wii but meh)

but correct me if im wrong, if you mod it, wont that kill like 50% the use?

no live and even if you have live is just a matter of time before it get nuke.

if they brick it, is your hard luck, they does tell you that from the get go
