...why you should not buy so-called 'high-end' PCs from 'techs' on trinituner.

I ususally give that site a wide berth, but i could not help but reply to the bulls#!t... (Sax, you'll love this one

my only opinion is that for not only PC related ignorance, but for Auto Tech, i keep VERY clear of that forum, steups ...what a hopeless bunch of 'know-it-all-and-all-up-in-your-face-with-their-BS'

Now I know Amazon aint the cheapest, but its the most readily available.
So using the following prices we have (yes, I DID that research):

Asus Striker Extreme = 347 US
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 = 260 US
Corsair 2 GB DDR2-800 x 2 = 96 US (approx)
Antec 650W PSU = 120 US (assuming thats what he used...there's no such thing as an 'Antec 660')
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme = 65 US
Seagate 250GB SATA x 2 = 118 US
BFG 8800 GT OC2 x 2 = 480 US
Logisys clear case = 65 US
Logisys cold cathode lights x 2 = 10 US

Which comes to a grand total of 1561 US (approx 9912 TT using an exch-rate of 6.35), which is nowhere NEAR the '$17,000 in parts' that the poster quoted.

Lets call it 10K all square.

Assuming 3000 TT for all shipping/Customs duty/VAT etc (which is a LOT), is he trying to say his labour is SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!!? O_O

Yeah, that price was a bit ridiculous for real.

The kind of beast machine that can be put together for that $$. Truly would wtfpwn the gatt top rigs as philo said.

Did we have a config done for that price range in the tech section?

and still.. that aint the best way to spend all that monay.. first of the asus board is a waste, the 8800gt sli is another waste.. (would have gone with 9600gt sli, price/performance is a wonder).. would have gone with a q6600 which i see has a price lower that the e8400, an OCZ 600watt gamexstream provides enough power for either a 8800gt sli solution or 9600gt sli solution, and still has overhead to overclock a q6600..lol.. and cost much less than the antec.. and the clear case and neon lights, i mean,, wtf aint expensive.. but still wtf..

change those parts to more bang for buck yet still so called nab high end performance parts, and you'll have a system worthy of worship.. and nowhere mc close to 17k.. yeesh that nab...

Well to be fair, Arc, you didnt include the cost of the Blu Ray burner and player which comes up to about $3,500 making the total cost approx $13,500. $3000 is way too much for shipping though, maybe $1500 for the most.

For 17K, that system should've been gold-plated. Or come bundled with an Asian supermodel.
I mean, I'm no expert on the subject, but even I know that 17K's way too much for a rig.

You will have to use HDCP-compliant parts, such as video-cards and LCDs.

I incorrectly told Sax that the video-cards were not HDCP capable, but I was wrong. They are compliant.

I saw nothing there with regards to warranty and support. I gather it will be a semi-nab who will be
purchasing this 'rig'. An enthusiast would have built his own.

I like an acrylic case just as much as the next guy but sorry that case was ugly. Also the photographer was either wanking off whilst trying to take the pics or has as crappy a camera as he has taste. Also WTF at that price... some ppl... whaev... where shiv? I wonder how much Shiv' rig cost in comparison...
