You just have to get a Hdmi-dvi cable and you good as gold.

One point of note...DO NOT attempt to buy that cable here *coughradioshackcough*, you will pay almost
NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS.

Amazon is your friend.

Nice cable link there Arc.

W1n, given the 720 and 1080 42inch screens costing the same price, the decision becomes easy.

1080 FTW!

That 4ms on the 1080p unit looks good too. Heard 8ms and up isn't good for gaming.

Coming from a 52" 1080p Sharp Aquos owner...

NGW...In this day and age there is no debate of whether to go 1080p or 720p...
1080p is the standard..and getting a 720p screen is like a downgrade...

My family and I have watched 720p content and 1080p content and the difference isnoticeable..
The quality is simply astounding...
and that 4ms response time is icing on the cake.

The sharp also has a really strong backlight...so it can get really really blindingly bright..

I'd recommend..
The Sony's are wicked good...but I read in some places that the Sharp line outperforms the SOny's in quality , i.e., colours etc..

So if you really really really..andI mean really scrunting for cash, well go with a cheap 720p screen that retailers trying to sell out...
But 1080p is the way to go regardless of screen size..
You'll feel comforted to know that your screen is 1080p and not 720p...
and you get some bragging rights... har har har..

lol, and needless to say, looking at the picture above you'll save a whopping $0.00 by opting for the 720p over the 1080p.

How far away do you guys sit from that 52" screen apprentice? Do you hook up a PC to that thing?

well to be fair, those HDTVs I listed were what I could find on newegg.com (my fav online etailer) I am sure on other sites there would be a noticeable difference in price. That being said, I have a lil ole AOC HDLCD 720p and it cost me less than 1K USD. In fact less than 900USD. So in my case it was a no brainer as well. Check Apprentice playing big with his 52"  1080p. Not changing the fact that if he come round in a Live sweat we'll wipe the floor with him :p ask redlum, it's not the size of ur screen, it's how LOW ur pistol hangs XD

That's OK.  It still won't cost 900TT if you import one.  I have, so I can say that with authority.

Yea i did research to order one from amazon. They don't look all teh same to me. There is basically single link and dual link. I have dual link dvi-d and actually saw one on amazon for 25 US.
Just look at the pins/port on your PC.

Wikipedia has some good pictures on how they look. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dvi

Just saw this on amazon for 4.25 US HDMI Male to DVI-D Dual Link 24+1 Female Adaptor Converter HDTV Plasma

The normal distance from the screen is about 8-10 feet when viewing a movie and such...

But when you gaming, I like to go as close as 5 feet... XD
slide up the sofa and such... :P

My friend brought over his hp notebook the other day equipped with HDMI port..
It outputted in 720p for some reason...think that was the highest capability of the card...
but it looked really awesome....really really awesome...

@ W1ntry
Well you knowz..the usual...only upgraded recently..
Owned noobs on a 36" tube for for a couple years...

Boy do i want a 360 to put that statement to the test....

wow 52 inches boy? I go be good wit a lil 32" yes. Then again, it depends on the audience and the size of the room. I certainly not going to get 52" for me alone to watch in a small room and at that size, the difference between 720p and 1080p is 0.

awesome, don't forget the difference in price for 720p to 1080p is also zero! lol

I was in pricemart an hour or two ago and looked at the units. Everything from 32 - 60 inch.

The 60 impressed me the most. Funnily, the screens don't seem that big. I can easily see the family sitting 5-6 feet in front of a 52" screen, no probs.

Before I was thinking you'd need to go way back to take in all that real estate.

It's funny how things take a different light under closer analysis.

Nice find once again with that cable china

^yea...seriously...
sitting close to the screen is awesome..coupled with 5 or 7.1 surround sound, and a 1080p blu-ray movie...

Gives you a cinema experience movietowne or any local movie theatre would never give..

lol, ent.

They had 40" for about $10,000 locally @ pricesmart. The 60" was like $22,000.00

Not bad considering the shipping/duty/vat if going the import route.

Can't overstate the added peace of mind of having a local pricesmart warranty.

My budget was about $9000.00 but after much pondering, that 52" is the new target.

Anybody want their car wash or house paint???

The 60" Akai in all its glory at Pricemart is not worth the 22000

Its 720p, and not the best contrast ratio...
And not a top notch response time..
I think 8ms...
It big and pretty though... XD

And that local warranty really helps..
You get a year from pricesmart.
