Proposal programmer hacks gameGeek in girlfriend shockerBy Nick Farrell: Wednesday, 16 April 2008, 8:32 AMBERNIE PENG decided that the best way to propose to his girlfriend was to hack her favourite video game so a ring and a marriage proposal would show up on the screen when she reached a certain score. It was a bit of a risk. There was as chance that Tammy Li would never make the score, or might even turn him down if she did. However, according to the Chicago Tribune she did and she said yes. Apparently it took Peng a month to work out how to do the hack of the game 'Bejeweled'.Normally the game publishers PopCap would have thrown their toys out of the pram after discovering that their software had been meddled with, but this time they saw the PR value of the, er... romantic issues involved.Apparently, when the couple get married PopCap will fly them to Seattle as part of their honeymoon and will be supplying copies of the game to hand out as gifts to the wedding guests.
