Yep...the HP 2133 Mini-note PC.

This Daily Tech article provides a few more details.
I must admit, it certainly looks sexy, but sadly, the CPU choice might be a deal breaker for some.

it seems like a nice variation, but what's the problem with the Via CPU? i mean, i'm not mucha  fan of Via Chipsets either. *reads more from articel*

revised:

Quote:
Despite the high clock speed, the machine often bogged down with surfing the web and struggled with multi-tasking -- an Eee PC 4G clocked at a mere 630MHz was able to outpace the machine in PCMark05. The slower models will fare even worse.

"On paper the 1.6GHz VIA C7-M processor should provide excellent speed for general computing tasks," said Notebook Review's JerryJ. "In reality, web pages rendered slower than expected, multi-tasking was painfully slow, and most processor-hungry applications like Photoshop or video encoding software just didn't like the VIA processor."

i eat my words Arc :S ...sigh, i must admit tryin to give Via props, but that quote fromthe article doesn't give the choice of CPU's much hope.

i'll wait for the Eee PC 901 this summer B-)

Now THIS seems to be something to look at, granted the price is really around that. And it's and Intel product so you KNOW they putting at least a semi decent CPU in there.

that lappy is pretty similiar to the eeepc then

since intel worked closely with asus in the production of the eeepc its no real surprise.

i didn't like the big border around the Asus 701 either, but then i liked that the speakers were now truely facing you, and That is what makes 'em sound so much bigger in sound than your average location. i've been keeping my eyes on the 901 eee, and wondering where are the speakers gonna reside, since real estate isn't so grand on those toys. *-)

Check out this review of the Asus U2E. Powered by a 1ghz Core 2 Duo cpu AND integrated optical drive, this thing just may be the thing to get for the ultraportable  masses.

GOOD GOD @ the price though...

The 'masses' not ready to pay approximately 2K US for this thing.  Hence the reign of the EeePC as da 'kaing'
of ultraportables shall continue for now.

No really, this laptop is rather expensive.

This machine is for a particular small niche of users.  The masses?  Not so much.

....and it will sell like hotcakes, because, in addition to those who had foregone the purchase of
the 701 model to wait on this one, there are also a LOT of existing EeePC users who want to upgrade.

Hmm... so much money :) for 1 laptop, when you can get 3 CPUs and put it to work for GATT folding @home

Look at the cheaper wooden alternative from Fujitsu

i guess they don't know about termites. Sorry for the off topic though :)

The intel Atom CPUs will be out soon. When those hit, we'll see more viable results. I would however dare to say that it would be a better idea to run linux on the Via platform as Windoz is a bit too bloated for a Via CPU. So whilst i'd say sure knock it, I still give Via props for their innovation in small form factor designs... I know ppl in here know of the Pico ITX form factor and it's brethren.

Now THIS is what the eeepc should have been. I see they very suspiciously left out the price of the XP system.

Hmmm...but assuming that Windows XP can be slapped onto the linux version and given the fact that laptop memory is now extremely cheap (pitch the 512 and slap in a 2gb stick perhaps), $400 is an absolute f*****n steal for this thing.

*Considers*

I updated it with the XP version's price = $549 US

The only difference between the two is RAM and Bluetooth...and well...the battery too.

Are those things worth the extra 150 US?  Well, thats debateable I guess.

Yuh DONE know I getting the Linux version, and I will throw MY Windows XP on it.
As for RAM and Bluetooth...I done have that.
