Uwe Boll to throw in the towel?
« on: April 08, 2008, 04:48:56 PM »
Apparently, if enough people want him to.

Quote
Uwe Boll, the German director behind such horrid video game adaptations as House of the Dead, BloodRayne, Dungeon Siege and Postal, has recently admitted that he would retire from making movies if enough people want him to stop.

Uwe Boll Responds To Million Man Petition

Quote
..................."I'm not a f**king retard like Michael Bay or other people running around in the business or Eli Roth making the same shitty movies over and over again," says Boll. "If you really look at my movies you will see my real genius you know, and if you go on May 23 on Postal you will see that I deliver a movie what nobody else delivered in the last 10 years, what is way better as all that social critic George Clooney bullshit what you get every f**king weekend."

Pretty infallible, but if it's not clear yet, Boll clearly illustrates that you're at fault, not him. "You have to really wake up and you have to see me what I am," he says. "I am the only genius in the whole f**king business. Goodbye."

Genius? And how! He's got a legion of anti-fans paying him more attention than ever as Postal approaches...............

Making movies aside I gotta give him respect for beating up Lowtax in that boxing match.
Lowtax could use a few shots to the head.

From what I've heard about him, Lowtax also needs a few shots to his groin, too, enough to stop him from reproducing.

Michael Bay Responds To Boll's Remark
« Reply #9 on: April 10, 2008, 12:21:29 PM »
Michael Bay is a powerful man. He's not a f*****g retard. So when Uwe Boll called Michael Bay a f*****g retard, the Armageddon director thought he should, you know, say something. On his own official message board, Bay wrote:

Quote
I find people who rant like that - calling shit about both me, and George Clooney - comes from someone screaming because he is not being heard. He is obviously a sad being. When you ask 'do I care?' Not in the slightest.

Yah, Michael cares about other things. Important things. Things like blowing shit up. Elsewhere director Eli Roth, who was also slammed by Boll, said the remarks were the "greatest compliment ever." That's what the kids call being facetious.

You see, the difference between Boll and Bay is....Bay actually made successful movies that people actually want to watch.
Boll's movies tend to make a fraction of what they cost, and tend to be what people don't want to watch.

As is, I don't blame Michael Bay for not giving a s**t what Uwe Boll thinks. He could probably take every single thing Boll can toss at him, add several explosions to it, and laugh all the way to the bank.

It's funny that Uwe Boll should bring up Postal as his 'work of genius', by the way.....that movie was probably one of his biggest bombs ever.

Seriously, does Uwe have a leg to stand on anymore?

Oh, and the petition's reached over 160,000 as I'm writing this.

lol, the truly funny thing about this is that no publicity is bad publicity.

That million man signature is just going to spread the word about Uwe and his films to an even larger audience. Many who may very well end up seeing his films if only to comment on how horrid they were, lol. 10 points for Uwe.

Man's a genius. Just as he says.

No stranger to wacky publicity stunts either. Read on his wiki that Uwe actually fought, as in boxing ring, fistycuffs fought, 5 of his critics and cut their asses. lol

Even more lol @ most of his movies busting at the box office and that being a good thing due to German tax laws that writes off money invested in german owned movies. The man can buss like a balloon with his films and his investors will laugh all the way to the german treasury.

He can't lose.

omg @ the reviews for that Dungeon Seige Movie. lol. Jason Statham in that. Thought it would be decent yes.

He can't lose.

Actually, he can.
There were people who heard about the petition, but were not going to sign it (including me).

And then, Uwe goes and gives us the finger.

Now, there are quite a few people who not only signed the petition, but also refuse to see any more movies made by Boll, regardless of how well it might do (God. That last part actually hurt to say.)

I'll tell you what- I've never seen any movie made by Boll. Not now, and, thanks to his comments, not ever. You can call the man a genius, but, in my opinion, he's a bit of a moron, for the following reasons:

- Name ONE successful movie that Uwe Boll has made.

- The guy calls out people who called his movies crap to duke it out in a boxing ring. You know. CAUSE BEATING PEOPLE SENSELESS IN A BOXING RING PROVES I'M A GOOD DIRECTOR YOU GUYS. Isn't that like challenging Mike Tyson to a game of Yu-Gi-Oh! when he knocks your behind out senseless?

-...on that note, he got challenged on G4 by Seanbaby, who trains in Muay Thai and Kickboxing. Uwe chickened out. So much for balls.

-Giving the middle finger to the people, Uwe? Really.

-Uwe's investors aren't laughing their way to the bank. Not if what they invested only turns up a fraction of revenue for each and every movie he makes.

The only thing Uwe has going for him is the shelter that his Government is providing for him. And, if he keeps churning out monumental bombs, how long do you think before they're just going to get fed up covering his a** each and every time and just yank the rug from under him?

Let's face it. Uwe has not made a good movie, will never make a good movie, and probably hates good movies (lest we forget, he attacked Steven Spielberg. You don't shoot down Spielberg). The only thing he's famous for is being the grand emperor of all that is suckage in the movies, and, while he is known far and wide, he'll forever be known as the guy who eternally bastardizes video game movies. Heck, if Hideo Kojima and Blizzard publicly reject the guy when Uwe talks so favorably about starting a movie, what does that tell you?

Quote

The Kojima Productions Report, the English companion to Hideo Kojima's audioblog HIDECHAN, released its second installment today, and it's already bearing fruit! Host Ryan Payton delivers a message from Kojima-san dispelling recent "nasty rumors" that Uwe Boll is being considered to direct an upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie. Says Kojima:

"Absolutely not! I don't know why Uwe Boll is even talking about this kind of thing. We've never talked to him. It's impossible that we'd ever do a movie with him."

Quote

One of those people, meaningful or not, was apparently infamous game-to-film adaptation specialist Uwe Boll, reports MTV. "I got in contact with Paul Sams of Blizzard, and he said, 'We will not sell the movie rights, not to you...especially not to you,'" related Boll. "Because it's such a big online game success, maybe a bad movie would destroy that ongoing income, what the company has with it."

So, Uwe, I'm so sorry, 'genius', but this is the part where you get the award of....

EPIC FAIL.

*ding dong*

Hm? Oh, sorry. Let me get that.

(opens door)

Ah. HEY, UWE! I THINK THIS IS FOR YOU!

lol, but neo....if you watch his movie, he wins. If you don't watch his movie, he wins.
if you sign the petition and talk about him on this forum or any forum for that matter, he wins.
the man gains notoriety with every passing moment and every time his name is called.

The german govt picks up 100% of the investement monies. Yes you read right. 100%. So there is no financial loss from his efforts.

The only way he can lose here is if the government debars him from the program. Anything short of that, the man just wins. That's the genius. Nothing to do with the quality of his movies (obviously) nor his ability to direct. I still real lol @ the man beating up his critics in a ring. He is a riot!

In case you haven't noticed, Uwe's already losing.
Two big name game producers don't even want him near their franchises. He's become the laughing stock of the movie industry (Michael Bay could attest to that) and he has to resort to cheap ploys to keep himself afloat in the media. Boxing match? Yeeah.

Does that really sound like a winner to you?

He wins because at the end of the day, the man becomes a legend by your very and every effort to discredit him and all the while he still continues to do what he loves best.  (producing movies, as crappy as they maybe)

Remember, art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder and I am certain he loves his work just as a father loves an ugly child.

It's not likely that the german govt would pull the sheet from under Uwe specifically because the shelter is there to protect all german film rights, not just his alone. To single him out would open a ton of issues. Especially when it's reported that he is one of the few directors using the fund appropriately.

Others are merely puppets for american production houses looking to cash in on the safetey net of the german law.

lol.

come on neo, you've got to admit, the man has positioned himself in a win win situation here.

On the plus side, a lot of people don't want their favourite games turned into films to begin with for fear of corruption/misinterpretation/misrepresentation. Judging from the reviews of his movies, they will do a lot to buck that trend in and of themselves. lol
