German smashes 3DMark 06 recordSchumacher in F1, Schnetzer in OverclockingBy Paul Taylor: Thursday, 28 February 2008, 2:22 PMGERMAN ENTHUSIAST Michael Schnetzer, a.k.a. No_name, has posted a record breaking 3DMark result on several sites, after having crunched some pretty remarkable numbers on his computer. His claims are backed up by the Futuremark Online Results Browser and several enthusiast sites - and as far as we can see it, it’s legit.No_name’s rig is a QX9650 running at 5.63GHz on Liquid Nitrogen with a QuadFire HD3870X2 setup also cooled by liquid nitrogen. It also sports 2GB of Mushkin Redline DDR3 and a Mushkin 800W PSU, sayeth a Mushkin speaker. His set-up had its core raised to 1.896V in order to secure the 5.63GHz clock, while keeping his DDR3 ever-so-importantly synched with the FSB. This enabled him to score 31782 marks in ’06 (1280x1024 no AA no AF) and 131286 marks in ’03 (1024x768 no AA no AF). Ze German had, almost a week ago, taken a fully-modded Asus mobo and upped the core voltage to 2.11 allowing him a 7.34sec run of SuperPI (1M)
