Water fuel Cars. Project
« on: February 27, 2008, 12:11:07 PM »
Well ive been infatuated with this idea for some time now, been researching it for a while
and i intend to convert an old car and my everyday ride to this system.

Its not simply putting water in yur gas tank and driving it, as that DOES NOT WORK O.o silly people.

But it is a system of using water as a fuel by converting water into hydrogen and oxygen via electrolysis.
Its an on demand system, not like that psychotic madness that is the hydrogen fuel cells being peddled by the US.
Nor is it like the honda prius that cost a million US dollars each and therefore is highly subsidised by the US governement in California and a couple other city/states.

Anyone else interested in this?
ill gladly share my findings and all the diff places iam pulling research from, and which system iam ultimately going to go with.

Iam not the biggest car man, but i do thoroughly enjoy combustion systems, lol, my mechanical and electrical skills arent great either but iam giving it that ole college try. ^_^

yes, thats what subsidised means

it cost them a mill each
and the government (US) subsidizes the cost of each one so that people can actually afford them
...
yeah..
so yeah its a toyota.. yayz...
its a million dollar car that is a mini hydrogen bomb waiting to happen
oh and their just as ridiculous solution for not having enuff hydrogen gas stations??
they will sell mini pumps for people to keep at home and create their own hydrogen to place in their fuel cells.

Read as, they are selling people weapons of mass destruction.

Crixx as with everything, though I do think if a cheap effective water fueled vehicle were already invented they would hide it for fear of being assasinated by an oil company... that aside you mentioned electrolysis... now i'm no chem major but the little I remember of it is:
1. You need electricity to begin with
2. Electrodes need to be replaced periodically
3. The electrolysis process is less than efficient depending on the elements involved.

You make it sound easy and if a combined GATT effort reveals some secret and makes this a viable product then by all means!!! but I have to say it's no small undertaking in the LEAST.

Weren't they toying with this idea for years now? I remember an episode of Team Knight Rider (yea i know i was bored OK?)
Where the guy made a hydrocar and did something to the other fuel cars....can't remember though

AND........WASA WILL find a way to raise water...

*runs away before being stoned*

lemme handle cross first
you can use salt water for these cars as well
so wasa eh ketchin me in nun.

and no need to be so cynical

yes electrolysis is an inefficient process requiring electricity
brilliant thing about a car, is that it has an electrical system that replenishes itself using an alternator.
wonderful piece of tech that alternator business is ^_^
you can if yu feel like it, supplement the system with an additional battery BUT YU DONT NEED TO because the system only needs 5A of power, thats nothing for your alternator to supply.

as for the electrodes, all of these systems have taken that into account
stainless steel works really well and it takes all of 2 minutes to change teh electrodes and they last a long time

the perks far outweigh the cons

any other questions iam willing to try and answer and when i get home (providing my net working) ill start putting out my sources
