Personally I HATE it, I havent seen a single anime where it has been done well and I don't think I ever will. It's terrible in samurai X,gundam series(later ones),naruto,bleach, trinity blood... etc etc.

Has anyone seen CG done well in an anime? What are your thoughts on it as well? I think they should just stick to drawing everything. Sorry if this has been posted before haven't seen it.

I don't think I have really seen much CG stuff in anime really, I may have seen it it bleach. It does seem extremely out of place when they do use it though.

watch wonderful days, old movie but it was one of the better ones with cg. Gankutsuou comes to mind also.

Heh I stick to mainstream because most of the time when I sway I get some really wierd stuff. Like elfen lien... that show just disturbing =/

You really need to see 'Karas' as well. A perfect example of CG-in-anime done right.
Sometimes you may not even notice when the shot is CG...the transition is that seamless.

gotta say it twice. LAST EXILE!!!! amazing storyline coupled with exquisite animation. can't go wrong.

I don't mind it too much if its not abused... in Naruto its used mainly for big fights eg. rain of tears, so usually CG= Good episode.

Doing stuff in CG is faster and allows more flexability than using totally hand drawn scenes, ask any artist , its VERY difficult to be switching constantly from perspectives and angles as some anime fights do .

Instead of having to redraw the same character with every frame , you just make one 3d model and move it around in whatever program you use.

Well ghost in the shell 2 movie, was almost completely CG, barring character design really. And the final Fantasy VII movie was completely CG. Those two movies merit watching just based on there looks, really.

But on another note, ongoing series like naruto and bleach come out every week, and overall because of that its total production value is low. So to judge CG in anime based on that is unfair. Really anything main stream is going to have lower animation, and therefore CG quality, since the producers know people are going to watch them anyway.

I don't mind CG in anime in most cases... there are the occasional messes.. but taking into account things like GITS, Karas, etc even the snakes from Naruto's most recent run in with Oro was ok. So I think once its done well, by all means.

Hey new to the site. The CG i've seen has been pretty good. i've watched Final Fantasy an thought it was great. Saw piece of Applesed - Ex Machina an its good to. I thing it all depend on what type of anime u like. I personally like CG.

On the topic of CG Anime.
I picked up the Isolation Special Edition of Vexille on Blu Ray.

Man that was a good movie. It looked even BETTER in high deff with zomg animation and graphics. Its from the creators of the Appleseed movie with the cel-shaded CGI anime. THey have really gotten better with it, with ALOT more fluid motions.

I suggest you check out Vexille. Get a REAL REAL good quality version and enjoy. The movie looks damn good!

Yeah one of my friends was talking about it, and I really did like the animation in Appleseed ex machina, If i see it in the stor i'm gonna pick it up.
