The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.
Demonoid forcedly shut down by CRIAPosted on 09.11.2007 at 15:26 in Tech News by MartinIt has been no longer than 6 weeks since our latest report about Demonoid, which scared thousands of its users. The site was taken offline by Canadian RecordingIndustry Association (CRIA) that time, although many people thought it has been just technical issues with Demonoid’s servers. As a result of this closure, this populartracker had to block access to all Canadians - they were simply getting timeout messages in their attempts to contact the server. Now, when everything looked safe and sound, the site is offline once again. CRIA sent a threatening letter to Demonoid’s hosting provider (Netelligent.ca), which resultedinto shutting down the whole site. Demonoid’s tracker still works and ironically wasn’t affected by this latest issue, although it’s the essential part in the process ofdownloading content through BitTorrent. According to the official IRC channel of this popular site, Demonoid administrator is already working on returning everything backto normal. I wouldn’t wonder if they decided to move their servers to different country and hosting company though, the pressure on p2p applications in Canada isincreasing every week…
They pulled through last time by shifting servers and blocking the Canadians, can't they just get their servers to a top secret location?
