Atari's doom loomsNew broom does not raise the gloomBy Nick Farrell: Thursday, 08 November 2007, 8:46 AMIT LOOKS LIKE one of the biggest names in the computer gaming industry is about to go to the wall.Atari has just expressed "substantial doubt" about its own future after posting a belated earnings filing. Its revenues have shrunk to $10 million and its losses have risen to $12 million.Atari has the most chequered history in the IT business. There have been days when the sun never set on its glorious empire coupled with months of complete financial failure.Lately, Atari has stopped developing games and been flogging off its studios and properties, firing staff and staring delisting from the Nasdaq stock exchange in the face.Recently it changed its board of directors but the new brooms seem to have been unable to stop the slide.According to GameSpot, Atari can't even borrow enough money to keep it through the current holiday season. The managers are looking for more cash but there's no guarantee it will materialise. µ
Not that sad , its just a name , remember all skilled game developers and programmer will be re absorbed into the industry... Other companies will buy out their liscences etc.
