This is the one time I'm not part of 'the horde'.

Call me elitist, but I find this game utterly boring, lackluster and just devoid of fun.

...and I'm serious as a stroke.

THIS is to be the linchpin of the MWS initiative!!?  Good god.  :(

Somebody wake me when MWS has moved onto meatier fare.

Well I find for two men who barely play the game at all, alyuh most present in this thread crying down TF2.

Previous to the MWS, I played the game a sum total of 17 minutes in the last 5 years.

So no nostalgia here. Totally new experience.

Having spent some time with it now, cannot for the life of me see how 9 characters/classes, that each play very differently could be boring to you.

This is a team game that requires teamwork to win. The kind of depth and tactics hidden below the cheeky exterior is mind blowing.

This Valve classic has all the right ingredients for a cult classic. Really amazed that more Trinis hadn't played it before (myself included). We were missing out.

I'm putting it to you.....that your inexperience with the game is responsible for these irresponsible statements. lol

Not only that, but Valve released a dedicated server for free. What more could a gamer ask for? Local pings iwmc. You know what that means? When last you saw single and double digit latency? (and no, I don't mean 99ms, talking 10-40 ms)

Dunno bout you, but last time I saw that was at a irl Sweat/Lan Party @ GATT HQ years ago. To get those low pings in an online game is just nirvana.

Foreign servers could haul dey mc. dazwhawetalkinbout

Plus the game is now free. Who can argue with that?

Here's an open invitation to get some coaching from yours truly to both Arcman and Preston, whenever alyuh feeling to get a better understanding of TF2. 1 hour each.

If you all still find the game is rubbish after that, well I'll give you your money back plus take a spin in Crop Duster 9 or whatever flight sim of Arc's choosing. lol

Well, to be very honest, I probably can count ( on one hand) the number of times I fired up
the game when I originally got it as part of The Orange Box, and I was totally
unimpressed by what I experienced.  Plus, I kept getting killed and didn't understand how.
That got me frustrated and jaded real quick.  Thankfully, COD4 was there for me.  :)

Not saying it's a bad game per se...I just don't fancy it.  Not then, and not now.

My stats say I have a hot 16 minutes of playtime to my name.  That should tell you something.

No offense, but I'll stick to my 'crop dusting' thank you very much.
At least I KNOW I'll have more fun doing that.

Arc, last Wednesday was the first time I played TF2, not to mention the first time playing it on PC to boot. You know I am always on the 360. Needless to say I was very impressed with TF2 and the gameplay, and it was uber fun too. Take Wyatt up on his offer and try it with a team! Perhaps the reason you were dying so easily is because you didn't have a MEDIC to heal you? The game is loads of fun as long as you have a good team to run with. Give it a try nah man! :P

I'm afraid i'm with Arc on this one up until Flight Sim Cropduster edition lmao.

As we all know, different gamers have different tastes. Some people like more realism, others like the whimsy. Personally, tf2 has -10 appeal to me, no enjoyment whatsoever while playing and as such, I have deleted it.

That said, I totally support tf2 and all those who like it. I love what it has a community appeal and so many trinis have a good time with it, miniscule ping and all.

Cant tell you guys how much I wish battlefield had dedicated servers that were as easy to set up as tf2's servers are. That would be a match

dazwhawetalking bout phoenix.

Well let me start by clue-ing you in on one of the games more potent combinations.

Heavy + Medic

Soldier + Medic

These two make up the meat and potatoes of your assault

Basically, the medic constantly heals the Heavy Weapons Guy or the Soldier while they launch an attack on the enemy.

Try to keep the medic on the run or out of sight, to avoid enemy fire. He will be the target as it is very difficult to kill the soldier or heavy while he is alive and constantly healing them.

These two classes have naturally high life points to begin with and the medic increases that by 25% when he heals them. A sort of HP buff, overcharging their health in addition to constantly replenishing them.

Once the medic has charged his gun's ÜberCharge ability (by healing) to 100%, he can make both himself and the Heavy/Soldier invulnerable for a few seconds with a single right click.

Use this to make a push on a fortified enemy position, to take down troublesome turrets or to save both your lives if under heavy attack.

Rmeddy, Eagle_66 and I made mass the other night using this very simple yet wildly effective strategy.

Note the soldier is particularly mobile due to his Rocket Jump ability. Basically crouch and jump while shooting a rocket at your feet for added propulsion. (Quake 3 veterans know what I'm talking about here). This makes him a harder target and allows access to high points on the map that other classes won't be able to reach. Having the medic heal you will quickly negate the self inflicted damage from the jump.

Wyatt knows fully well what a Heavy with a Medic can do, as he felt the relentless bullets from my chain gun while Woodyear healed my character. :P

lol, Sesimie

That is some serious time you clocked there.

See you on the battlefield tomorrow in the GATT server.

By end of the night I'm hoping to pass Django to claim second spot on the local rankings.

No chance to catch Osiris though. Man gonna lead.

But what else you expect from the guru himself. He is the "notnice" of team fortress yes.
