WCG in Trinidad 29th to 31st August (Stadium)

The World Cyber Games has come to Trinidad. For those who don't know this is a world tournament on console and pc gaming. It will be held from 29 to 31st at the National stadium.

I concur. If there aren't any fighting games thrown in there, then this would only serve to be a colossal waste of my time.
The gaming scene does NOT revolve around MMORPGs and FPS games, you know.......

Ah, horses**t. That just makes my chances (and those of a few others) of attending this even worse.
Why didn't they host it over the weekend? Like from the 31st August (Independence Day) to the 2nd of September?
That would make a lot more sense to me.

I won't be around either, they don't seem to be serious, my boss was a sponsor and he pulled out because they changed the date and they didnt even tell him ..and he was a SPONSOR.

Trinidad isn't fully prepared for WCG, yes we have the talent, but the framework for getting things going professionally at the local level is next to non-existant.

I find that somewhat ironic.
Maybe it's because the chosen representatives of WCG down here are notoriously lazy or incompetent, but I find it weird that such a hyped up organisation (that was once featured on G4, no less) would beat around the bush and horse around like they're doing right now.

Personally, if I was organising an event, I would see to it (or at least TRY to) that there's a little something for everyone. Like I said before, the gaming scene does NOT revolve around DOTA and FPS games alone. Fighting game fans are sure to want a piece of the action, too, as would the racing gamers. Having a grand scale event like this while only offering two genres with such a limited variety of games is like announcing an all-you-can-eat buffet with bread, cheese, a can of vienna sausages and a bottle of ketchup. Either way, it's just not enough.

Personally, I don't blame WCG themselves but rather the local people involved.

wish them all the best, because if it goes south, that may soil the chances of WCG taking Trinidad seriously in the future. a shame really.

that said, wishing is all I will do since they have already struck out three times in attempting to host this event with GATT/Carigamers on board.

Many sponsors had similar experiences as your boss did rb. fuh real.
