from that review, only need for the new gts over the 256mb gt is at rez above 1600

and is competitive gaming at rez that high necessary??

The 8800gt's existence is only to fight the 3870 and 3850, Nvidia doesn't want to loose the middle ground. The high end will always sell to those who want he best and want hat 1fps more than the other guy :P
