would be cool if it could at least run a SNES emulator  and starcraft

its a 900mhz Dothan which would be good enough to run Unreal 2004 using the 3d acceleration software  renderer thingy .

Might Consider picking one up myself esp if it has basic 3d acceleration... to run warcraft and counterstrike , something to leech off public Wi Fi networks too when i start going UWI . Cheap and expendible .

i am running warcraft frozen throne on a 700mhz pentium 3 with 256mb sd ram and an 8 mb agp card with no problems this machine  at 199 will run tons of games and it is windows xp ready although it ships with linux . it is preloaded with skype, it has a web cam built in mic built in stereo speakers wi fi it is a must buy even if you already own a desktop and a laptop at that price trinis could stop buying copy books for their children or text books for that matter just use google books and open office

^^Wow. You ever heard about full stops? You should consider trying them some time.

I think these machines have a lot of potential in the local market, providing a more affordable computing experience for those of us who can't afford a full fledged desktop PC, much less a laptop. I think i'll ring in a couple to feel out the market once they;re available.

You asking allot man, this is a US$200 device, lets say best case scenario, it's multiple of 6, that is a TT$1200 device for a child to use, I don't think it feasible, then you forgetting running cost, then internet access, and the fact that not everyone can afford something this 'cheap' (as that is a relative term, since we are comparing it to more expensive devices in its class).
However, given enough NGO/NPO's i suppose anything is possible :)

I following this and the OLPC for a while now, even tried out the OLPC OS.
I'd be super interested in how to get another distro on there, prob some kinda USB network install drama, but there is time...

I will admit though i hadn't expected it out this soon, a nice surprise. As well as the upgrade to ddr2, it was ddr when last i check...
