^This has to be one of the best game engines in terms of smoothness man, here I was afraid the game woulda stutter stutter but it's quite the opposite!

Why trouble yourself to see how it will run on a particular GPU when you can read this review: http://www.guru3d.com/article/far-cry-2-pc-vga-graphics-performance-review/1

That being said... aquisition is taking FOREVER... you'd think with SOO many peers and seeds it'd be faster but NOOOO... WTF...

Just a heads up for the ATI toting badasses of GATT.

Get the Catalyst 8.10 hotfix driver before you play this game. Performance almost DOUBLED in DX10 mode. Imagine maxing out image quality and having 2xaa and STILL getting 50 to 60 fps...IN DX10 mode.

Crytek could learn a thing or two from this engine.

All this niceness and I end up getting the game last.  I already downloaded this driver in anticipation of some serious enthusiast testing.

GPU Gods be praised. :notworthy:

Oh yeah...I just post this from on-board de boat.  :happy0203:

Okay, I am really deep into this game now and i have a couple things to say.

First of all Vista 32 - DX10 - 1368 X 768
VERY HIGH SETTINGS - > 40 FPS (See My specs to the left)

The engine:
This game engine is awesome. It was everything the previews said it would be and then some.
I mean, every individual branch gets affected by your shots.
The way the fire starts and spread.
The dynamic shadows is definitely the best shadowing i have seen to date.
The way the fire spreads, freaking awesome.
The grass and tree texturing was on another level.
The sun beams are much better than crysis (and the glare caused by it).
Finally, and most importantly to me, the physics is off the chain!!!

The Graphics
Its Far Cry (nuff said).

The Gameplay
Truely engaging. The driving feels real, the recoils and accuracy increases battle difficulty, and being rescued, well lets just say the first time i thought i was really dead.

The Story and Missions
The only place where this game falls a little. While i like the sandbox style gameplay, it is just to tedious to drive some of the distances required, and then battle at every check point and then drive some more. That's my only complaint. They should have had a quick travel, even though it takes away from the realism (which was done totally well), its still a game and its a bit frustrating.

Other than that, I can get into a true gamespot style review, but i won't. What was key to me was what they were able to achieve with the engine and graphics, with such a low system requirement as opposed to crysis. Really makes you wonder.

Awesome job by ubisoft. Not the best game i played this year (That would be assassin's creed[I nominate this for gatt game of the year]) but certainly in my top 3.

To say that Far Cry 2 is BOSS is an understatement.

Benchies iymc...

Crysis Warhead still looks prettier, and has MUCH better lighting effects.  You can't compare this game on 'Very High'
to CW on 'Enthusiast'.  Apples and oranges folks.  On looks alone CW gets the nod.  Gameplay is another story.
This game runs a LOT smoother.  Credit to Ubisoft for that.  I hope more game makers will license this Dunia game engine.

Great job Ubisoft...but you can still suck it for the bull$#!t DRM.

Not quite enough to be meh new hoss, but its right up there with the best.

Now I don't normally double-post, but I needed to say his separately...

Could I please take back what I said about Crysis Warhead being prettier...?

...and can I now officially declare Far Cry 2 as meh official and current NEW hoss:laughing7:
These pics should speak for themselves...

...and thats at 1680 x 1050 with 4X AA.  Minimum framerate is a healthy 45 fps.
'Breathtaking' is the only word that comes to mind when you crest a hill and see the beautiful vista laid out before you.

Truly a stunning piece of work.

And remember this is still very high, what about ULTRA.

This engine is truely amazing. I'd like to see more games take a hold of this one instead of the unreal 3.

At least is supports full AA
