i'm all for standardization and all... but umm if someone wants to bench at a higher res, the most that will happen is their score will go DOWN... So the question is.. shouldn't it be fine to DIS-advantage yourself? Most review sites don't even bother with 1280x1024 anymore. They START @ 1600x1200 and higher.. so whilst his res was not 1280x1024, once it's higher I don't see a problem with it.

cuz then we won't really know how much more powerful his rig is than the next.

it's true that benching at a higher rez isn't really cheating but it gets hard to compare marks with others.

if you run a 100m in 10 secs, and i run it in 12 secs, but yours was uphill would it be a fair comparison?

yes you still come out the winner in the distance covered in the least time, but's it's the difference between an apple and an orange, cuz the actual test wasn't the same.

Pay attention to the bold type. Also note where I say you are free to run your benchies with custom settings at any res to put in your personal benchie thread...

Please remember: When running synthetic benchmarking applications like 3dmark and pcmark, ALL settings are to remain at default. Wherever possible, arrange your screenshots in such a way that as much information as possible is available for scrutiny. You are free to run your own custom benchmarks at custom settings and place screenies in your personal benchmark thread, however for the purposes of THIS board, please adhere to the default settings in order to maintain a level playing field for all competitors.

I was just trying to protect my 9th place XD can't blame a guy for trying. Ok ppls, back to being strict, 1280x1024 as far as placement goes. This does NOT stop someone from having bragging rights and putting up high scores at ricidulous resolutions to show how l33t your rig is.

i feel he's doing gpu folding, with a couple of gtx2XX in multiple systems. My single gtx260 launched me to the 4th place rather quickly, i was once pushing 6000ppd.

Unfortunately, i7 doesnt even do much for increasing ppd, nvidia cards do, which i'm not using atm and not in the forseeable future...unless they come reaaaalll good, which they wont.

Anyone know why i can not get higher voltages on my mobo? The highest is 1.3 i can go,i need to get high to oc the cpu.
