@ Arc, I read the article you posted... maybe i'm interpreting it incorrectly but blue is good and red is bad.... isn't 3 intake 2 exhaust at top best according to their pics?  Not following the side exhaust...

There's no 'best' config.  The different diagrams represent how best to tailor your airflow for a given number of fans.

I used this one as a guide...

My case has no bottom fan, so I used my side fan instead and made that exhaust.
Logic dictated that I make the front fan exhaust as well.

I think I'll change my rear exhaust to an intake, so all intakes will be in one 'zone'
(at or near the top), and all exhaust will be in another zone (at the bottom).

I have a bit of a problem blowing hot air on my Hard drives. As far as i know, heat is the biggest killer for HDDs. other than that, looks like an interesting concept.

It shouldn't be a problem if the fan you're using as exhaust is a good one.  In my case that fan is a very large 230 mm Cooler Master fan.
They didn't name it 'High Air Flow' for nothing you know.  :laughing7:

According to AIDA64, all the HDD temps range from 42 C to 47 C.  I only get concerned when I see temps of 60 C and up.

i fedup tell doomtack, you hadda forget what you think and work with facts!! man hard headed!!

jus pullin yuh leg bro

but on a serious note...lets take blade servers for eg.... all their hot air, is extracted, none is blown in...remember the concept of removing heat it to take it AWAY from its source.

Having worked with rads and airflow for a while, i can say, d air coming out of them rad and them dont be cool.
To expose your other components to heat just to shave 2-3 degrees of idle temps on cpu doesnt seem to be worth it imo.

Cool air in from front/side, Hot air out through Back and Top. 1 Smooth airflow, not different airpaths and currents conflicting with each other or anything like that. Simpler the better.

My system temps does be like 23 and thing.

And arc, d htc bess, but i liking metro (for obvious reasons)
http://www.htchome.org/en/metro/

So i rocking out that one for ah while to see.

Ahhh, but my results speak for themselves.  I not worried about the lil extra heat.  The big-ass fans I'm using as exhaust is taking care of that.  There is no rise in internal case temp that I can see.  Changing the airflow like I did actually made things better.

As with everything else though. Your mileage may vary.

You want to buy one for me?  I'll gladly send back the Corsair.

I cannot afford the Crucial 128 GB.  Its as simple as that.  The reviews say its a great performing drive, at least on SATA III.

I know it'll be plenty faster than my current setup anyway, so why the apparent disdain?

Crucial m4 ain't the final word on SSD.

Of course the m4 is far from the best out there but remember its larger capacity, (even if its just by 8%).

Of course you shouldnt base your purchase decision on Amazon reviews but that Corsair has gotten mixed reviews, AT BEST. Very disdain worthy, if you ask me.

But yeah, beta test. Hopefully that $40us saved doesnt translate into headache for you down the road.

You self.  You think I would have read Amazon reviews only?

There was a firmware issue, which Corsair seems to have addressed.

There's someone else on this forum that uses a Force 3 with no issues (Sniper, I think).

I don't foresee any issues with the drive itself.

My only concern is being able to clone my existing Windows installation from a RAID-0 setup to a single drive.

This is the part where I offer a silent prayer to the 'god' Acronis.  :laughing7:

...and this is Corsair we talking about here.  Not some 2 x 4 RAM maker like Crucial.  When's the last time you used Crucial RAM?

You honestly think that they would keep a shitty SSD in the retail channel, with all the competition out there at present?

I refuse to believe that.

Ok, so Corsair does not make ram or flash chips...at all. They buy chips from people like Samsung and Micron.

Micron is the company that OWNS the Crucial retail brand. So that "2x4" memory company actually supplies your holy Corsair with ram chips.

That said, i'd trust a SSD maker that uses their OWN parts much more than those that do not. I rather not take that gamble. Hopefully you get a drive that is not affected by the recall.

As a matter of fact, Micron makes the nand chips present on that Corsair.

So there's a glimmer of hope in that Corsair yet :)

LOL @ 'glimmer of hope'.  Why you eh hush.

Yeah... I could have bought the OCZ, but my limit was 150 US.
The price of that drive is stretching it.  If I was willing to pay that,
then I might as well just buy the Crucial and done.

No way around that fancy word 'compromise'.

...and Awesome, 40 US is not chump change eh.  I could think of a great many things that 40 US could get me.

Ah boy...Acronis to the rescue again.  :happy0203:

I was able to successfully migrate my RAID-0 setup back to a single drive with no issues.

I was also able to modify the registry to use AHCI in preparation for the SSD,
so it should be a simple affair to just clone drive, and reboot.
