Good Online Games?
« on: June 19, 2007, 07:41:57 PM »
Hey ppl, just wanted to tap the info banks a bit, does anyone know of any good online MP games, preferably ones that don't require CD key's, serials, registration, fees or in short online games for cheap bastards. Please refrain from dropping names like Sauerbraten or the like, and what's the general consensus on America's Army?

Well, Return To Castle Wolfenstein is totally free, but its ballz compared to Battlefield 2/2142 or Call Of Duty.

You mean you cant save up to buy ONE good online game self?  The ones I mentioned have no fees to pay after you buy it.
Just install and you're off and running.

Other than Wolfenstein, I don't know of much else.

Dude, just get urself and Xbox 360 and Live and talk done... after Gears of War you won't need much other multiplayers online for a while. Unless you into RPGs vs action... in which case... there is always the dark side... I mean WOW...

lawl

nice one rb
was gonna say pretty much the same thing
man basically say

free game online that real bess

which does not = xbox 360 and live (live is the opposite of free not so?)

lawl

fear mp is free and is awesome!! tons of fun and there are cool modes yu dont see in single player mode and rarely in lan modes so its hella fun

in the mmorpg, you could go retail wow or lineage . Lineage would be yur choice if yur very pvp oriented and dont have 24/7 to dedicate to the game and wow if yur looking for longterm fulfillment both pvp and pve .

there are also pirate servers for both games out there. Not condoning it, just letting you know they out there

orrr u could buy ah lil quake 3 original and sweat yur socks off
it go be cheap and no monthly fee for a great frag fest

Oh crap.  I completely forgot about F.E.A.R. Combat.  You can get it here.

Be warned though, the game is a graphical feast, and is all about speed and fast reflexes.  Running it on anything LESS than a 6600 GT (video-card)
will result in a SLIDE-SHOW for performance.  That is not a good thing, especially when playing this game online.  There are some serious 'peeongs'
out there that will literally hand you your a$$.  There is no stat-tracking, so you can just jump in anytime and shoot s#!t up.

oh damn i hated silkroad lol try rappelz or scions of fate. I dont recommend scions of fate though its fun but getting that x-trap security to work sux. Or if u are graphically challenged try Conquer Online or Eudemons Online. I used to play CO but it got to similar to Eudemons so i stopped :D.

First person shooters free i would say only FEAR is good.

all games there is free if u wanna know more free rpgs ill tell ya sometime but those 4 are good :D.

Re: Good Online Games?

there are none. The ones that play free games are the ones that have not played the payed ones in depth. We are talking server maintainence, upgrades, new levels and designs, new content, enhancements, bugs fixed, PTR's etc etc. None of that is seen in free games on NEARLY the same scale as payed games. Kal Online is still friggin Kal Online a year ago, so is Knight Online.....the list goes on.
There is a reason why games like World of Warcraft, Lineage 2, EVE Online, City of Heroes/Villains and the new LOTR Online eclipses games like Runescape in the media and even MOREso in community, the reason is that people are paying to get what they want.
You have a much more diverse and larger scale community in these games.

I spoke to someone the other day playing WoW on a free server. I asked him how much people are on the server, he said "Plenty, about 100"

There are over 200 servers in WoW through blizzard EACH with over 100,000 people on it. Some have more. now THAT is not just a community, that is a friggin CITY. Dread TRINIDAD dont have the population number NEAR to the people that play that game, and this is just WOW.

You walk into Stormwind or Orgimar and general and trade chat rolling like if you walking on Fredrick/High Street. And i eh lying. It ALWAYS have someone doing, what YOU doing. Dont even get me started on the Auction house where the LARGER the community the larger the Economy of the server.

My point. Free games are BS in terms of experience as far as MMO's go. There is no depth, no detail and DEFFINITELY no team effort on the scale of these payed MMO games and it is SIMPLY because they dont have the money to UPKEEP that amount of people that want that content. Games are costing much more to make hence YOU are paying more to play them. This isnt Kings Quest and Police Quest style games anymore. They are critiqued on a much higher level, and that costs money, and to GET that you have to pay the money. It you dont have the money, dont play the game. Easy.

On the other hand. If you have never experienced a payed MMO......Guild Wars go keep you happy :P......for about a weekend

Ok well i will just add that there is an MMO better than WoW that has a large community and more stuff to do than WoW and such and its free they run the game on stuff u can buy such as mounts or gear to make u look cool that dont really affect gameplay. And everyone who has played it says there is no other game like it. There are 3 english versions first one is exclusive to philipines the other two are coming out this year one for US and one For Malaysia and i guarantee u its better than all those MMORPGs u just listed and its free :D.
If u dont know about this game too bad ill tell yall next month after second english version releases :D.

it have more than 8 million people who say that you full of sh!t Bloodwar.
No offence but all this "everyone that plays" and "and stuff and stuff" dont really mean jack sh!t to me, neither does a single person's opinion who has no MMO experience especially at the endgame level.

ok we straying a bit from the original topic, so to end this little argument:

blood, shivadee summed it all up with the first post he made.
I HAVE played those free mmo's, they all suck, 3000 idiots who cant speak English and just walk up to you to beg for f---in gold, not to mention the looting ninjas, i know the mmo u talking about (or at least i think i do) but it will not be as good as it's payed cousin.

Guild wars is longer than weekend game imo :P however you still have to run $ for it.

btw blood, there is a reason WoW is top, i've known people who NEVER even heard of Warcraft before WoW that jump into it and loving it, and pretty good at it to boot, it is the experience of it, and the fact that the game pretty much always have sum new to do, no matter how far you reach and you think u do it all, a patch will come out and BAM yuh have sum else to do, yuh dont pay $ fuh nun.

i think kimi have to revise his 'games for cheap bastards' definition, prob include the games you have to pay for but have a non subscription type service, unlike live and WoW.

Ok it seems I've caused a bit of elitist attitude to surface there, thanks for the headsup there WASD

What  meant was are there any good online games preferably(sorry about not defining genre at first) FPS/RTS that can be played online without the need for serials, registration etc. The true purpose of this is for one copy of a game to be shared among ourselves, like for example age of empires. Up till now I havent really played Age3(big fan of the series) and dont know if it can be played online with my friends without havin to use serials etc.  At the moment we too lazy to et up and go to a net cafe, and is not like we any good either. We just want to play online against each other from home, or against other players wherever. Recently we picked up the UT2004 demo just for the online play and been loving every minute of onslaught

no probs.
have you ever used hamachi? we use it for Halo, CS, and CoD 2, nice VPN.
basically you use the client to form a virtual LAN over the internet, in other words you run the client and then run the game normal as if it over LAN, downside? if any man have green dot yuh screwed...and well dial up.

ummm shiv

guildwars is a free to play that has regular maintanence updates and everything yu just touted about the pay to play games

and there are free lineage servers out there with 10s of thousands of people online
:) i know cause ive had the oppurtunity to experience them.

with battles far larger than retail wow.
and that is simply cause the net code of lineage allows for a much larger group of people to be online an at the same place at the same time than wow does.

Any ways, there ARE free games out there that are cool. And the great thing is, since its free, you dont need to devote your soul to the game 24/7 and convince yur self that your thoroughly enjoying it, simply because your paying.

And as yu should know, ive played retail wow, retail lineage, free wow, free lineage and guildwars.

I enjoy them all thoroughly to different degrees, except that the free wows tend to have very very very low populations in most areas. Thats annoying and makes yur game solely pve

Where as lineage is alot more pvp oriented, so its really easy to find where to go to level and where to go to fight. ^_^

Gun bound is a great game

I really liked command and conquer renegade, that was free to play as well.
broke my cd though :(

lol
theres a little game called star craft broodwars, may have heard of it, its free to play online as well ^_^

Guildwars? you want me to laugh? Man i hit level 12 in that game in one day..hell half of that?....level 20 cap? please Crixx, and you still pay for the game itself. I may have not been accurate but i was talking about MMO's. FPS,RTS is a diff story. Most of the games played are on private or invite servers as well, whatever, it works. But those games you pay for as well. if you talking dont pay, free free free. I can barely name any. Gunbound? Its been hacked and cracked so bad it makes no sense playing it now.

As for WoW......Magtheridon is dead and FBoS is heading into Serpentshrine and The Eye to kill Vashj and Kel Thas....respectively. Void Reaver in Tempest Keep dies tonight. As for PvE gameplay, World of Warcraft has absolutley no competition. As for PvP gameplay it has much to be desired. Although a AV zergfest is fun now and then.

Starcraft is one word, and its called Brood War :P (now i just out to presha Crixx LOL) Been playing it since beta in '97....been a while since ive picked it up tho.

i am not elitest. I WOULD like to be proven wrong, but bring facts please. wrt to my field im very competitive and dont screw around with it as you can see. I argue like this to encourage people to bring the facts in a better manner. I couldnt care less that "everyone says" or "everyone i spoke to says"...who is everyone? all 5 of them? 10? 20? come on.

but shiv, i DID proove my points.

You reached level 12 in a day, thats great , yu seem to like pve alot, but guildwars is DEFINATELY a pvp oriented game.

THere is no rebuking my facts about the lineage free servers vs wow free and retail.
There is a gigantic community out there. alot of it is based on people who played retail and wanted to continue having that great gaming experience with out the need to pay.
Thus the continual existence of the free servers.

Gun bound is stillllll a great game, and its updates regularly and there is new content and all that good stuff yu said wow has. AND its free.

As far as i recall, wow was also hacked and exploited to hell a while back, so hey its not perfect now is it.

And then once again, starcraft rox your soxz non stop. I mean there are like 20 something million people in korea right, lolz and its like their natiional sport... soooo... yeah.

There are other mmorpgs out there, earth bound is one i used to play, very fun and free.
