To be honest, I pretty much doubt that. If the Soul Gauge does what I think it does, then it would most likely be a staple of tournament play, and, as such, everybody's got to adhere/adjust their strategies to suit. Personally, any strategy that curbs overly defensive gameplay is a good one in my opinion (although SC was never a defensive game to begin with.)


By the way, chinara, the quote in your sig made me LOL. Reminds me a bit of Kung Pow, that line.

1. After his body was injured Vader had ketch he @ss to get himself back into form to fight with that suit. He is not as powerful as he was per se in saber battles, but his force powers are now unparalleled. He was actually practicing surviving without his suit using a force bubble around himself.

2. The Apprentice is a hella saber fighter, like Obi Wan was. Didnt notice in A New Hope, Kenobi held of Vader, only for a short time despite his old age? Know why? After seeing and reading Phantom Menace you should know, he is one of the best trained saber Jedi, like Mace Windu, force lightning doh scare he!

3. Vader did have some mad skills as well. He was one of the few Force sensitive people with the ability to absorb energy, Yoda does it too in Clone Wars. If you dont remmeber, the simple scene where Han pull the blaster on Vader on Bespin and fired rounds before vader took the gun, what u feel it was hitting his armor? Man was absorbing the laser blasts.

-.- I am not a "nub that dunno Star Wars", I have been quite a fan for quite a while. The original trilogy may have been released before my time, but it doh say sh!t. But, not specifically referring to the movies though, Vader is as powerful as ever, anyone who played Epi 3 for PS2 would know what I'm talking about. And look at the gameplay video for Vader in SC4, do you still think he cetchin he a$$ to fight in that suit?

Oh another thing I'd like to mention: the new ending to epi 6 where Anakin's ghost is actually...Anakin, makes alotta sense seeing that the true Anakin Skywalker was reborn after choosing to save his son instead of following his master (Which actually got him killed...the irony....).

Well actually......Anakin fulfilled the prophecy of bringing balance to the force at the end. He killed the Emperor and restored freedom etc etc......well......for about a day (Truce at Bakura)
the abilities of Vader go FAR beyond the movies, and they are not "fan based" either. Star Wars Omnibus novel, which you cannot seem to find anymore (novel of the first 3 SW movies) talks about what he could and could not do. He actually uses the force to enhance his fighting abilities, much MUCH more than an "ordinary" Jedi can.

lemme explain something and be VERY clear. Since when Vader and Yoda COULD appear in a Soul Caliber game? That ALONE should tell you it has NO PREMISE....meaning.....they could make Vader ANYTHING they want.

u KNOW me and gameplay video's already Rten....I does take those things with a grain of salt...and i hate......HATE friggin game reviewers, even PREVIEWERS.......god i hate them. They so friggin stupid.

But yes, if Vader couldnt cut@ss then men would be "well wtf". it only makes sense.

funny this vader talk start up
just finished reading yet another star wars novel and unto yet another, but a clone wars ARC story instead.

at the end of betrayal they have a VERY nice short story on vader. Hes so awesome
and it does talk bout how hard he had to work to fight well again in his suit
he couldnt use his acrobatics like he used to, so he just augmented his ability with his force powers
amazing stuff.

Yep most definitely, bonus characters are just for fun. Vader to me is modelled after mitsurugi a bit from the gameplay vids I've seen.

Yeah, I am aware of your great dislike for such things, but I was just using it for reference...Anyway, if in this game he was exaxctly like himself in the movies it wouldn't make too much sense even having him in, so I see where you're coming from.

 Also, I don't think I really understand rb's comment I mean, it IS good to know your video game characters' backround(s), oh and I don't think I've seen mitsurugi ever use force powers before (unless I imagined seeing Vader using the force in the gp video), funny that...

extra characters are usually banned in the competitive arena, its safe to assume vader, yoda and apprentice will be banned.

sc2 - link , heihachi , spawn, necrid = banned
sc3 - see below

- No throw glitches of any kind.
- Bonus characters are allowed
- Camera altering glitch is banned
- No custom characters.
- Button mapping will be allowed in this game.
- Winner keeps same character.
- VC is allowed

Ill be taking a team of SC players to the USA next year to compete in Evolution2K. Im hoping I can find a few decent players here. In Soul Calibur that is. Im St Lucian, and obviously most of the team already consists of St Lucians, but Im hoping to recruit a few heads from around the Caribbean. Maybe even have inter island competitions.Holla!

I think puerto rico has a good bit of good players (at least they did in sc3), jamaica as a couple as well. As far as next year's evo goes, I guess you'll have to wait and see if SC4 makes the lineup (it should but SC3 never did soo..)
