My bad, Platinum.

4ghz stable on 12gb...no. 3.6 is most i've been able to get (100% stable), and that's running the mem at 1100mhz cl8. The memory controller REALLY takes a beating handling 6 dimms worth of memory. Of course, I could probably get things working stable if i jack up the voltage to perilous levels, but what I got things at now is plenty fast for now.

Hmm, so you sacrificed the 4GHz for an extra 6GB of RAM eh???

I was running at 3.8ghz 24/7 with a 21x multiplier on 6gb, now im running 3.6 with the 20x. I've got a slight decrease in f@h ppd, but now that I have more memory, I can easily increase the number of instances I run and increase ppd.

So I thought that this might be a good idea for my new business venture and something the people may be interested in, so I went ahead and built a system based upon Intel's dual core 330 atom and Nvidia's ion chipset (aka Geforce 9400m graphics just like in the Macbooks) for an efficient micro desktop that is powered by a 90watt laptop style adapter.

I included some perspectove shots to show just how big (or small) the system is.

Overclocked to 2ghz from 1.6 (yes, you can do that), installed Windows 7 (which runs so sweetly even on 2gb ram) and let the benchies run. Performance?

06

As you can see, its not a powerhouse, but it gets the job done.

Nice lil setup man, what price would that run someone? or you haven't decided yet.

Something small and packing a lil punch is always good in my book   :icon_thumleft:

Is that an hdmi port at the bottom left of pic no.5, this thing could make a nice little media center pc.
Whats the total power usage under heavy load Cap'n?

That's indeed an hdmi port you're seeing. I believe it averages 35watts on full load and 25 idle.

So I finally decided to change out my 8 year old Super Power handle case for some Antec 900 loving and man am I a happy camper.

So you know how they like to take 'before and after' pics after a procedure, so here it is. Pardon the screwdriver.

Now that that's out of the way...

I took about 4 hours to reach this far. Really took my time and tried to hide cables as best as I could until my patience ran out.

More shots with my lovely monitor in the background.

All in all, temps went down 5 degrees with the side panel off as opposed to  my other case with its side panel off.

Putting on the side panel sent up the temps about 2 degrees giving me a 3 degree reduction. I may be able to get the temps down even more by re-orienting the fan on side panel to act as an exhaust. I like the 3 colour LED too, nice touch.

Another plus is that I am actually able to close my system now with the Sunbeamtech Core Contact Freezer and that's WITH the fan on the side.

The ONLY thing spoiling the party is a crack going down the plexy starting from one of the screws that attach the plexy to the rest of the side panel....but small ting.

I give this build my own stamp of approval.

Yeah...that crack was as a result of me overtightening the screw when re-attaching that plexi window to the side panel.

Don't disassemble that side panel unless you really have to.  That plexi is a bit delicate.

Other than that though...yuh lookin good.  Everything just squeeze een. :laughing7:
You can be sure overheating won't be a factor now.  Is airflow iymc.

...and all those fans are semi-new.  I had long since replaced the standard 'black with blue LED' fans that came with it.
Those Antec Tricool fans are WAY better, but a little louder than the standard ones.

:icon_thumright:  niceness.

I was also running out of patience with the cables in my build. Having some stability and noise issues that are keeping me from addressing it right now :(

All in all, a good setup there, congrats

5850's are in, and for the life of me, I cant get anything past 23,000 out of 3dmark 06

Vantage seems to be ok though.

Now to test some games.
