Colin McRae: DiRT
« on: June 01, 2007, 01:43:47 PM »
Fans of the Colin McRae franchise of rally racing games (or fans of rally games in general) are going to LOVE this one.
The intro for the Xbox 360 version BLEW ME AWAY!!!  Said intro is strangely absent from this demo though.

Be warned.  This demo is not for the 'faint of PC' (so to speak).  You may have to sacrifice some eye-candy settings for
this one to run smoothly, but you'll really be missing out.  The HDR and particle-effects are absolutely STELLAR in this game.

Not to mention the damage modeling.  You can almost completely smash and deform the cars' body panels before they
just fall off altogether.  The environment around some of the tracks can also be laid into with your car as well.

All in all, a truly spectacular demo, and its FREE.
THANK YOU Codemasters.

I will certainly be buying the Xbox 360 version (which looks/runs incredibly as well), and I'll 'acquire' this one.  :happy0203:

Some screens biatches:

Demo was run at 1440 x 900 with all settings on 'high', with 4X AA.  Performance was spot-on fabulous throughout, with NO stutter.  Pretty aint it?

Oh, did I mention its fully compatible with the Xbox 360 wired controller.  It seems MS is making it a requirement for all new games to support it.
Good move there.

When you play this demo, you WILL want this game.  Trust me on this.  Launches on June 19th.
You can download it from here.

Finally finished 'acquiring' this game, and I must say, it was really worth the wait.  (3 stinking weeks too)
I already have the 360 version on order, but DAMN!!!  The PC version is sweeeeeeet.

Definitely worth every penny if bought original.

demo looks sweet, but i found it a little washed out, anyone else found that despite the awesome graphical detail and particle effects, it kinda looks washed out?

Why anytime anyone asks for simulation someone says something like this . Dont u understand we want other types of sims not just that type of racing? like a street racing sim or a dirt racing sim maybe?

Man. This game is a straight up tune up of Rallisport Challenge 2......i love it too bad. I hated the previous Colin McRae games, the realism was fine for rally fans, but as a game that is "fun" to play.....no man. DiRT is what CMR should have always been, real friggin fun to play. Pelting through a corner, pulling handbrakes and sliding your @ss through without dropping much speed. now we talking fun!

btw......Forza chew up and spit out Muddass GT....htf is GT simulation when you bounce off the friggin track corners and take no damage :/

I ALWAYS said that of Gran Turismo.  Realism my A$$.  Forza Motorsport 2 leave out ALL Gran Tuismo COMBINED!!!
The realism so wicked that I really could not play it properly without the Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless wheel.

So just about 5 minutes ago, I launched my favourite game these days, DiRT, to get a lil dirt in my hair, face and draws only to be completely, absolutely and totally petrified to be greeted by a message that said "Auto load failed, game data corrupt." Now people, I eh go lie...had I not taken a dump before settling down to some dirt, I would have surely soiled myself repeatedly. Frantically, I searched for a solution only to find that a patch for this very issue (patch 1.2 which can be found here) was released a couple days ago. No this $hit BETTER not tell me that save data is corrupt after the patch cuz i'll personally hop a plane and visit Codemasters' headquarters, calmly ask to speak to the head programmer of DiRT and proceed to strangle him until he's unconscious. I'm serious about that @h1t!!!! Oh yeah!!!!!!!!

Now...does anyone know where Codemasters' headquarters are located?
