For the brave OCers at heart

For those that have a geforce 7x 8x etc, here's a nice lil something for you... mind you this one is NOT for the weak of belly!

Flash your Geforce BIOS

Tweak and twiddle

THE NEW VERSION of Nibitor is out, and that's good news for hardcore graphics tweakers everywhere.

The utility, here, is a BIOS fiddlers dream. It's full name is the Nvidia BIOS Editor, and you can guess what it does.

Version 3.4a adds support for the 8800 Ultra and the 7900 GS AGP, and that means all sorts of finickity twiddling. You can change the BIOS default core and memory clocks, the voltages and fan settings, you can even change the vendor-specific sign-on message and some monitor-specific parameters.

If you think you've found a stable overclock for your card with software methods, why not hardwire it and dispense with the unnecessary overhead? Let us know how you get on at the usual address. µ

i've done this a while now. my 7900GTO runs at 700/800 stock now. its really simple to do. it can also modify the card's ID table so that my card could be read as a 7900GTX in windows, even tho the bios belongs to a 7900GTO.

I reffering to updated benchies with all the various tests. See the benchmark guide thread and you'll realize what I talking about. It's a bit much, but the fact that your rig is OCed strike me you're an enthusiast and thus shouldn't be phased by the numerous tests and time req'd.

I was going to try this (with my 8800), but balked at it when I read what was involved.
Plus, I need a floppy drive. (*wonders if this can be done booting from a flash-drive*)

Although it would be nice to flash dat biatch to the 600/1800 setting that runs quite stable when I OC it.
