I think you issue here is that you're trying to sell Single-In line (laptop presumably) AND Dual-in line (desktop presumably) in conjunction as a bundle. Most ppl will buy pairs of 1 but not a mismatch of pair types altogether. Therein prolly lies your problem.

hmm..  but SIMMs haven't been popular for a while, not so?

and it wouldn't be DDR-400

i thinking then, it's a SO-DIMM (laptop form factor)    and if it is, i just might take it off your hands , at the price..

How come you selling one chip out of a matched pair? (KVR400X64C3AK2_1G)

why not sell the matched pair for $450 and keep the odd chip (KVR400X64C3A_512) for whatever you need it for?

What i was reading up was it seems even if two sticks are the same if they weren;t made after the idea of dual channel was made... WHere they seem to get some kinda tag or something, the old and newer ram wont run in that mode together...

Iguessing prob they did that to make sure the standards in which the architecture of the sticks were made, is of a higher quality than the older ones possibly have been.

Just my idea of what i read doh knock me if its not the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

I have nooo idea what you just said, but it is possible to run mismatched pairs of memory (as long as both modules are of the same size) in dual channel mode. Before my dad bought a matched pair, I set up 2 kingston value sticks, one 333mhz and the other 400mhz and overclocked the 333 to meet the 400 so they both ran at the faster speed. Obviously these weren't a matched pair, but ran in dual channel mode nicely.

btw Unknown... (sorry to hijack thread) Question: what's the difference/benefit(if any) in RAM configuration whether you install the ram in  slots 1&2/3&4 or if you install in 1&3/2&4? if seen either setup, can't really tell a difference... thoughts? and how's your new system running?

Most (if not all) modern boards support dual channel mode. Memory banks on these boards are usually colour coded. For example on boards such as ours, you'll notice that two of the slots are yellow while the other two are black. In order to achieve a dual channel config with your memory (I see you're running two sticks of 1gb each, which undoubtedly came as a pair), you need to put both sticks either in the two yellow i.e. 1&3 (preferably) or the two black slots (2&4). If you wanted to then throw in an extra 2 gigs, then you'll still be in dual channel mode.

My system is running blazingly fast (even running an acquired Vista ahem ahem...I can't complain. I just waiting on my 8800gts to arrive, hopefully by early next week and sometime in the future I have to get a better hfs to carry the overclock higher.

Ever got through with the hdd issue?
