Yes, we should.
Anyway, would I be right to assume that you and your friend would be there on the 29th?

Most likely, Ultima. Imperial X doesn't really play this game so much.

I've never played Sanford actually. Actually, I've never played against any of the top tier CTF crew at MvC2.. I've seen them play a couple times in person years ago (my last US tournament was March Madness 2002), but never really played against them in MvC2. There would be no point anyway: Even at my peak, I wasn't even good enough to beat CTF scrubs, far less the good players there.

whiplash:

Where is your friend from? While a one off match win doesn't prove anything, if he's had any sort of experience against CTF players, I would likely be no match for him, and probably not you either. As I noted in the MvC1 thread, I've been playing Magneto since May 2000, and I still can't even do beginner Tempest combos with him consistently; y'know, the kind of combos that stopped working back in early 2002. My Sentinel stomping is hella basic, nothing at all you haven't seen. Can you do ROM infinite? Last time I played in NY was in late April, and I managed to hit a CTF guy once before being used as a combo dummy for the next 50 seconds by Mags (MSP).

So yeah. If you're friend is going to get a challenge in this country - unlikely, IMO - it won't be coming from a washed up hasbeen/neverwas like me. :(

rb:

Can you do ROM yet?

All right, cool. I'll make a spin tomorrow, from about 11-ish.
Hopefully, I can find the place.

EDIT:

Game: Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Venue: Playmax, Chaguanas
Time: 11:00 AM onwards

A'ight, youse mugs. Listen up.
I'm heading down to Chaguanas to do battle with whiplash, because I want some ACK-SHUN!!
And, as such, I'm inviting anybody here to head down and join in the royal pwnage.
If Marvel vs. Capcom 1 is there, also, I'll also be playing that.

So, head down there and get your game on!

Not really marvel related , but good game to Ultima in Accent Core yesterday. Lots of good matches and comebacks between the two of us, I'll leave it to you to give a little report, outside of that one match where every round ended in destroyed combos I'd say we were pretty even when we were playing our main characters with the odd streaks inbetween (ok I lie I feel Eddie got the better of Potemkin once I got my rhythm in :P)

good riddance 2007, may 2008 bring sweatage abundantly!

nice sweat sat fellas. neo, ultima and a lil from rb. about 7 full hrs of mvc2 was great!.it was cool dat u guys came down.
neo,
ur megaman and roll were great. u know what u were doing.the beat plane was a lil confusing. u know how and when 2 use ur assist. u had my msp like a lil vagina for a while. BUT..  u seriously couldn't beat team scrub. The only time u wre cursing alot was while playing scrub. "that fu**** commando!!",sorry for the harsh truth. u are truly a great low tier player.very clever. mad schiznit to u man.Ur sentinal has a lot to learn. That being the art of stomping for one. Roopie says that u and ultima are great blockers. I agreed. u know the general score though?. I hope ur foot
is better. u got stamina bro! dont worry about the coins cuz most of em was free.

Ultima
U surprised me when u came man. Didn't thought u was comming. It was great playing a good expierenced player like urself. I didnt get much matches against u but probably next time. I envy your ability to get out of the hypergrav trmpest combos. Help with that would be appriciated. Ur fighting style is lil different. I dont know how. U have the makings of a great player if you get back in the game. I hate your blocking. U could block.good. Wish u stayed longer like neo did. He stayed till the arcade closed!

The easiest air tempest combo goes like this Cr Hp (air)lp,lk,mp, "mk and hygrav immidiately with HK"(not lk),"immidiately tempest after".after tempest is finished hit lp. lk,  immidiately airdash up forward  immidiately
hit lp, lk, mp imm hygrav with hk tempest.. I cant stress the immidiately enough. thats a two rep tempest combo.
If u are still interested u can practise the combo.

Rb
We finally played each other on a fixed machine. NICE TO PLAY ANOTHER MSP PLAYER IN CHAGUANAS. I want to
play u when u are at your best. that would be with your joystick 4 ps2. Im really interested in one probably by next month. I can stll kick a$$ with a normal controller. We should do a ps2 battle. U should come playmax more often when u get chance. I need to get more expierence against good players like yourself. Snapback is a mofo eh.

Well fella i really enjoyed sat. wish everyday was like that.seriously. cud u guys ccome everyday? lol.
hope we could do it again soon also before roopie goes back to the states. till march. Till then i will be practising like a mad man literally.  hrs upon hrs. i have to master the rom inf and the slide method rushdowns with mag.
Hope u guys still practising...oh..... HAPPY NEW YEARS!

Much obliged, partner. Glad to finally meet some more fellas who could give me some serious competition down here.

Team Scrub gave me sheer horrors, I'll admit.
Captain Commando + Cable = PRESSHA.
It go to the point where I just had to nuke that Commando off of the face of the Earth, at any cost.

Yup, I'm pretty much aware that my Sentinel sucks.
I don't really practice so much with him, so it's true....he does have a lot to learn. As an example, the same day when we faced off, was the same day I learned about the advantages of an overhead Jab.

As for my team....yup, they are awesome. :awesome:
A lot of people take the kids for granted, but the key difference between my Mega Man and Roll and anybody who picks them up on a whim is that I have a whole decade of experience using them (in both MvC1 and 2), and it takes somebody with a true knack for top-tiers and how the game works in general to beat them.

As for the general score....I think you guys netted quite a few over us. Don't worry, though...when next we meet, the tables shall be turned. ;)

As for my foot...it's a lot better now, thanks for asking. It tends to get numb, given the way I stand on it in the arcade for extended periods of time. Last time, at Galactica at Trincity Mall, I went up to the MvC machine up there, and stood my ground for 6 hours straight. I got a few challenges here and there, but overall, I must have made between 37-40 wins on that day. After that, I practically keeled over on myself, because the right side of my body was so numb, you could've rubbed me raw with broken glass, salt and fire ants and I wouldn't have felt a thing.

.....in other words, it was great.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to doing this again.
You've got another date in mind, by chance? ( I can't make it for this Saturday or Sunday due to the tournament that I'm planning).

I might be able to come this Saturday. Last Saturday I was asleep, cause I had come home from work 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM on Thursday/Friday (and 11:00 PM on Sunday! >:( ).

whip:

re: Getting out of Tempest

Would you believe that is the FIRST time I've ever mashed out of Tempest? I was just as surprised as you were. It's also the only time, so I don't know why you claim that as an "ability". I've never had much chance to practice it. I know the method for it: You need to mash the joystick and buttons after the Hyer-Grav hits but before the first hit connects. You supposedly only need a quick left-right-left-right motion (ending with joystick away from opponent so that you end up blocking), but as I said, I haven't had much chance to practice.

I'll try using the HK Hyper-GRav in air combos. I always do the LK version, and my biggest problem is canceling too fast, where the Grav doesn't come out. Maybe that was my issue all along? I'll see if I can't swing by St. James this week and test it out. I know what to do after the Tempest hits, though it seems to be very inconsistent for me: Most of the time, the opponent is too low for me to tack on any more hits. Is it just a matter of hitting the button sooner?

I block decently well I suppose. And I can run a fairly deal too! Sometimes it's all I can do! :p

(BTW whiplash, you need to run more with Storm).
