What will TRini xbox 360'ers do when thier console dies?

Take into consideration my console has died 4 times on me so far, but it's nothing for me to drop in box and send back to TX, but what will you guys do?

Xbox 360 #1 Lasted from launch day to November 06 (lifespan, just under a year) COD: Rrod
  "       "    #2 Lasted from November 06 to November 06 (lifespan, just under 6 hours) COD: Rrod
    "       "  #3 Lasted from January 06 to January 06 (lifespan, 30 minutes) COD: Dead disc drive
   "       "   #4 Lasted from Febuary 06 to Febuary 06 (lifespan, 23 minutes) COD: Console freezing.

I'm awaiting my 5th console now, and it really makes me wonder, what are you guys gonna do? Just go cop a new one or what?

The general consensous is every single Xbox made out of those three factories in China from launch till now, will die. It's just a matter of time. I don't care about what it will cost to microsoft, but knowing the pain it is dealing with this, I really do hope that situation never proves true. Further proof that this is true is how Microsoft rebated everyone they made pay to have their consoles repaired, and extended the warranty twice.

I'm actually still very shocked that there are gamers who own the xbox 360 and partake in online gaming communities and don't know of the problem.

I think its more along the lines of not everyone has the problem and thus it doesn't bother them. I've had 1 console go dead on me, redlum none, neither arc, viv or anyone else on gatt that I know of... I am sure there are problems, but THAT many... is nothing short of ridiculous.

well in jk we have about 4 dead 360's

1st one last about 4 months
2nd one last about 3 (it was modded though)
3rd one last 2 mins ( ring of death on startup)
4th one last less than 1 min ( ring of death on startup)

the 3rd and 4th one were from the same package so bleh

Actually the problem IS that bad. And yes, it does warrant that statement. Quite frankly, the most plaguing problem of rrod (red ring of death) aka (three red lights) which is the literal code of "Xbox cannot debug itself" is so far, the cause of, not known by microsoft. Everyone believes that it is a matter of cold solder. But no one knows for sure. Guess what, besides the Elite, NOTHING has changed in those three factories and how the manufacturing process is still the same. Infact, a greater deal of the IGN boards insist the Elite is going to suffer the same problems.

You wanna be skeptical and that's cool. Hell ignorance is bliss, the last two consoles I had, everytime i booted up I couldn't help if it was gonna start up and work, and if it did, for how long. That's a f*^%ing ridiculous feeling to have for any product. Especially one that costly.  Microsoft said they are changing the work over to another factory come July 1st or thereabout. Perhaps this is when a sure change will come.

As for QA, I never thought any console would have been worse than the PSOne. Atleast I could have turned that over and it'd play. It'd be upside-down, but it sure as hell would have played.

Yea, sorry to hear about those issues you are having there Camre, I've had mine since January 2006 and only had the Red Ring thing happen once, but it turned out to be a loose cable connection in the back, after I plugged it in all the way it worked fine. But it runs great, doesn't get hot and I've played it standing and lying flat. It sucks to have any product die on you 4 times. I would be very pissed if I were you. W1nTry's died and I bought him a new one, still have to send the dead one back just haven't gotten around to it. But what suprises me is that my Wii that I had for 3 weeks DIED on me, now that pissed me off due to the fact that I can't find another one to buy because they so rare to find. My plan is to send this one back to Nintendo and then give the returned one to my sister.

Hmmm. If you should ever, and I mean even once, get the rrod for any reason that you cannot explain, send it back immediately! Call them, tell them it's persistant, cause if it happens and your'e one day out of warranty, you're screwed. I've seen few people that have had it happen once and didn't come back, but that has been the case for some people. Just CYA!

I was a little edgy on buying my ps3 this early in its life... but it works good.. not a problem since...
and well on the sony end of things.... very few ps3's had problems well not as much as on the 360 side...

that is possible Apprentice. However from personal experience i beg to differ. I know at LEAST 12 ppl in my class that own a PS3.....about 7 of them had to send it back because of HDD failure. One of them was the 40gb version the others were the premium.
Wrt XBOX 360 consoles. The only times i have spoken to people with problems were those that bought the Nyko intercooler which is EXPLICITLY forbidden by Microsoft.
Have not heard any problems with Wii's personally except for Redlum which is unfortunate.

None of these reasons will stop me from buying PS3 however, most likely at the end of the year when i see some more titles.

Sad to hear you guys having that issue with your consoles that really sucks to have the console, all ready to play and then you're screwed. I could imagine it would prevent people from wanting to buy another console anyway. Good luck with trying to get them repaired. I dont like the "US Only" things with XBOX LIVE...i had to change my LIVE account to a US one, i couldnt even transfer to the US. But whatever. That is one thing they should change. Again that is also ONE thing i like about SONY and Nintendo, they really are focusing on the international market allot, especially more than Microsoft.


camrE. Does someone bring your console to trini for you? Like and aunt for uncle or something? Or are you living int he US like myself and Redlum? allot.....ALOT of the problems that develop from 360's like that are the way which they come down. You should carry that on your person not put in a suitcase....ATALL. Not even wrapup in clothes will help..the system isnt made to be moved around and thrown around like that. I bought myself a 360 bag which i use to bring my 360 to trini. I have it on my person they whole flight. The only thing in the suitcase is the brick.
Anyway i dont know how you get yours, but its a suggestion.

Ok i had a friend who took the plunge last week and copped himself a 360 Elite and boy was he angry, because three days later Red ring of death. But the best part is the company he got it from told him they dont make the system so they can't do anything for him. Now he is a idiot to take that after spending all that money but the company is Fcuked up for taking that stance i mean it was only 3 days.
