A fete match. That would take some of the pressure off. You can almost cut the tension in the air with a knife.

Hopefully Cloud will deliver on his promise to get us a cube and in a week or two, Crixx will be back to former glory and in a position to truly defend his title.

We can all meet and play for fun till that stage? Bragging rights coming after.

That sounds great afa warming up is concerned. It's not set in stone yet that we'll be there but we're trying to get it done. As speed said he wouldnt be able to make it is a point of reluctance, but the 3 remaning members have no issues besides transport. It's in the works.

hmmmm my parents so pissed dat i went out saturday - in d hopes of seein d infamous Crixx *cough cough*- becuz i was supposed to be studyin 4 finals which start d 24th.........i really do not think i will get a chance to come monday, but i am hopin......if i do indeed make it tho, my mom and dad will prob disown me.......lol

Saturday was real good..........finally sum freshblood - with a nine yr old bein d best one - so much talent in one so small......d rest of dem were NOOBS!!!! but they r out of practice, so let's hope cloude gets thru wid d cube!!!!!! With regard to the issue at hand, I've said I've seen this scenario play out over and over personally and to others.  I've seen some rather ridiculously plebean type attitudes by many of the members here and this just brought up the disgust I've harboured for such behaviour.

Crixx has diabetes...I can't identify with that.  Surely he's not letting that consume ALL his time.  If you know you have your treatment etc and its a time consuming or exhausting affair then by all means don't sit on your ass and wait till the 11th hour to say "I'm NOT coming for  time"  when people have tried to make arrangements to meet you.  THEY HAVE families, friends and commitments the same as you.  Hell, you don't even know if any of them have illnesses to deal with as well. 

Going as they said "MIA" with no word is in my view, intolerable; provided you haven't encountered any complications on your way to the place that would hinder you from saying such.  A meagre phone call isn't hard to place.  Get a number and say you can't make it is all.  I don't think you need to be a genius to do that.

I'd hope that people would be logical enough Mario Kart and Duck Hunt playing individuals to operate in such a manner.  As fate would have it, this is not my issue but come now gentlemen, do try making sense. 

I'll try to stay out of your arrangements though but it really does irk me to see that whole "ghost" thing happening to people.  That's my opinion, I could be wrong.

hey i kno this is not my place but i think u shud ease up on crixx, i mean he did say he wud be there but he didn get us a definite time, and yes we did sacrifice to be there, but it seemed like he had to sacrifice more..there will be other times

we have watched vids of international players and yea we kno they are goood.........wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy goood but the u guys obviously kno watchin and actually sparring the person are two different experiences

we actaully planend to stay later on saturday but it was actually my fault , i had to get home early as my sister was sick so sorr y about that...no harm and nobody's fault about saturday, we just assumed that even if crixx wasn there that there would be at least a good few amount of players that could hold down the fort and wet our appetites until crixx came or at least not make us want to verse crixx soo bad......maybe those guuys weren't there either

hopefully if u guys really practice then we would see some good fites so tel us when u guys are in form again becuase if crixx and brad are the only good players then it dosen seem feasible to make into town so frequently to fite two good playerss and one being a no show (for good excuses)

btw monday looks grim, we will post later on if we will be there or not and the exact times

oh and another note, i wudn say we were in top form because me and kimi are at work all the time and haven';t had time to practice in months while speed and gaara_temari are at uwi and have exmas like every week so they are out of praactice as well so all in all everyone shud have been at the same level, except for gaara_temari he does have mornin, lunch and evenin practice sessions.......i guess we were a little in form as we only didn play in months but u guys said since last year?? well try to get back in form as quickly as possible or at least first try to get one of cloud's cubes lol

As I said, it isn't my battle.  I'll just sit out and not care as per usual.  But as I recommended, exchange phone numbers and organize your business better.  I really wanted to laugh at the loser so get on that will you.

And as for Bae.....NoobGoneWild.  I'm not saying I haven't met any good players on the site.  That would be completely inaccurate.  I AM saying however, that the best players for many of the games I play were non-members.  From Soul Calibur, to Street Fighter, to MK, to Samurai Shodown and all that. 

The only player I've come across to be truly impressed by was bryanmaster in Tekken.  Even then, I wasn't truly impressed probably because of controller freaks interrupting the two matches I had with the man coupled with my dislike for the series.  Most of the other top dogs, I met outside the forums.  Sheppard and Akuma, Fault to name a few.

again, amazing sportsmanship Kibashi and crew. It's a trait sadly lacking from too many of our members of late.

Yeah, Imperial is kicking crixx to the curb a bit too hard imo. Crixx has been an overly outstanding member and selfless contributor to the sweat scene from as long as I can remember (which is about 4-5 years).

I'd say the tongue lashing is well deserved for any other no shows, but not crixx.

We did communicate with him by phone at HQ and he did say he would not make it early, but in the evening.

While the day progressed and the guys mentioned they had to leave shortly, called Crixx and he said he would not be able to make it within the time.

Like you imperial, this isn't my fight but like you, I feel the need to intervene. My intervention is to keep the peace and see this play out in the best way possible. For everyones sake.

The game is a great game imo and I'd like to see it get more exposure. These guys sure can play. It would be awesome for HQ players to have them as regular competition. At HQ and at other venues convenient to 'em. Right now our best hope lies in Cloud and his cube.  Will keep working that angle.

Also, I'm glad we can agree that the GATT community and forums harbours talanted players.

Let me challenge you a bit further though. Those people mentioned. Akuma, Sheppard, Fault, Ultima, Prez, etc... are all members. Most of them have come into contact with other great gamers through the association.

That said, a lot of the console/arcade members don't frequent the forums as often and that is where GLs/Arcade/Cell Phone communication becomes key.

This is something we are working on. Staff at GATT HQ began compiling lists of competitive players in a particular game across GLs to better encourage them to collaborate and become involved in events. That is a work in progress and I expect it to show some fruit in the coming months/years. Will bridge the gap between the net savy forum gamers and those that prefer more traditional communication methods.

Oh and we have a squad for SSBM that should pwn your squad. Let me know if you guys want that challenge and we can make it official.

I listed Fault, Sheppard and Akuma.  I met Fault some random day at SNS after being coerced to head over there by a player at the arcade. 

Sheppard I met through a friend of who is now the clan leader of  FEAR.  This was before any of us were members of the organization.

Akuma I met through Sheppard.

I can go on to say I met Akimi (Local Soul Calibur champ imo) at the arcade. 

There are dozens of others way beyond the level of many here on these forums and they still aren't members. 

I used to talk to Ultima on SRK but under a different user name.  I still don't think he knows or even remembers who I was back then.

Is GATT what brings them to the arcades?  I'm really not that far off target when I made those statements.  And by the way, just sigining guys up with accounts just to use the tv at your place can't really be considered a valid application as a GATT member can it?  If that wasn't the case, half if not 75% of the whole t5 contingent would be non members.

The point is there would no SNS for you to meet fault at were it not for GATT.

Knowing Ultima on SRK (an international forum is one thing) getting to play Ultima at GATT HQ only happened because of GATT.

Same for Prez. Arguably the best street fighter player I've ever seen.

Now sheppard and akuma pass through HQ religiously and have been on the tournament scene for many years. Akuma was a gatt member since Euro days. People don't walk around with a badge saying "GATT member since 1999" (hey, now that isn't a bad idea).

Nor do people walk around asking new people that they meet: "hey, are  you a gatt member?"

The point is not a contentious one. Not looking for constant praise or kudos. That said, we are here to facilitate precisely what you are talking about. Collaboration. Finding gamers, bringing them together and letting the sparks fly.

That is as simple as our mission gets. I think it is one that we have done over the years but remains a relatively unsong and often overlooked achievement. Countless of gamers are now in contact with each other and involved in gaming at a higher level because of this community.

For that reason, registering them at the front desk of HQ or any GL for that matter is all that is required to achieve that goal and it does indeed make them a member. Ditto for the forums.

I'll give you a small real world example. Ras signs up at GATT HQ. Visits us a couple of times, plays tekken. Found out about us from his padner "short man".

While here, he meets several other tekken players. Months go by and Ras buys a PS3. He comes to HQ, we download Tekken 5 DR for him using our broadband connection. Then we pull up our list of competitive tekken 5 players and call them up for a beating!

Wash rinse repeat for other games and gamers.

Keep in mind, that "Ras" may never ever sign on to the forums after his first day registration but he is very much in the loop and an active member of the community.

As for the arcade, my statement is that we have not done much for the arcade scene at all. Mainly for console and PC gamers. It's regrettable but that is something we lapsed on for one reason or another.

Explain to me how it would have no SNS because of GATT please, I remember heading to SNS in the daytime when a friend mentioned it had opened, he and I were not GATT members at the time. Infact we didn't find out about it being GATT affiliated a few months after.

Also the forum is not an accurate representation of the membership. But of the 3000 or so members , I'd say less than 15% are active. Just like everywhere else there are lurkers, but the I tend to see the same 20 members posting in all the threads with a few lurkers posts here and there. Not accurate representation of the community at all.

a) Aeons ago the concept for SNS as a GL was put to Ron Sabga by GATT. (As was the case for many other GLs created over the years, directly and indirectly) For example, DEST, the original GATT HQ. Directly influenced.

Another example, Emmanuetech. Indirectly. The owner was a member and used to visit SNS and even used them as a case study to start his own GL.

b) The site serves as a registrar. I just explained that to Imperial in my last post. Ras has contributed incredibly to the community yet he does not post in the forums. Every gamer that comes through GATT's door is registered on the site and adds to our numbers. A small percentage actively participate in the forums but most just play games at the various GLs and at home.

They are still very much counted as members and the figure reflects accurately the community.

How would you like it if the regulars at HQ were to say that RB is not a member because he only posts on the forums but does not attend any of their sweats (which is every day of the week)?

In fact, some of the admins and mods on the site haven't even been to a GL in months. They contribute in other ways and are counted as members still.

Nothing is wrong with that. Won't you agree?

Again, as members of the association, this is something we should be proud off and respect. This is something we should try to do more often. Spread and sow the seed of gaming island wide and beyond.

Not seek to discredit or play down. It can only work to the further benefit of this community.
