ok, how can i put this...
Almost all pictures of the sun for scientific purposes are "false colour" because usually they are measuring non-visible wavelengths, the aboce pic looks kinda like x-ray imaging. If the image was "real colour" obviously all you would see is a bright splotch.

thank you flippant...good to see someone using Physics in here...

They have to use different wavelengths to discern the intensity of the light being emitted by the star in question...otherwise it will be VERY hard to see it otherwise...

But i love the pic anyway
